Hi, yes correct. Once you have access to disconnecting the battery cable, you can use isopropyl alcohol to apply some around the edges of the battery and let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute so it eats away at the adhesive under the battery making it easier to pry off. This is a great video. I'm trying to find a video to show me how to replace my moto g stylus screen, and this is the closest thing available, I imagine. How many of these things do I need to do/unplug to be able to just replace the screen? Are all of these steps necessary? I know that this is a complete disassembly, so I don't imagine I'd need to peel off any copper or remove any cameras, but I want to do a good job. I bought little tools and a new screen, but I'm scared to start!
@PBKreviews4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, you would basically need to just remove the back plate, unscrew the top portion screws to remove the top black cover, then disconnect the battery cable and screen cable, then apply heat with a hair dryer to the front of the phone (screen side) to loosen the adhesive underneath the battery. Then you would gently pry the battery off (with none metal tools) trying not to warp it too much or pierce it (causing it to short or catch fire). At that point you can heat up the screen and pry it off and get your new screen, apply new adhesive to the midframe if needed and run the cable through the slit in the midframe and re apply the screen to the midframe then reconnect the cable for the screen, place your battery back (apply new adhesive strip under battery if needed) and just re assemble. Hope this helps.

Thanks! The proximity sensor is in between the screen and midframe and the cable is routed through the midframe, so you would need to disassemble the phone to remove the motherboard and peel off the flex cable on that side and also need to pry off the screen to be able to remove it. Prying the screen of can always be risky since you can damage it easily.

The silver screw that holds the main board is being difficult. The rest came out fine using a T-4 screw driver. Do I try a T-3 screw driver? What are my other options? What if the screw is stripped? What techniques can be used to free or remove those tiny screws?
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
If it became stripped, use one size larger and try to take it out with that. If its completely stripped and nothing works, you can use a drill with a drill bit that fits inside the circle spot of the screw and drill carefully into it to break the screw head off. Or you can get creative and use a small amount of JB weld and put a metal tool and weld it to the screw and once its hardened you can un-screw it.
@georgeknoerlein57203 жыл бұрын
@@PBKreviews A careful examination with a jewler's loupe looks like only the top surface is stripped. It is almost like the t-4 screw driver was too big and never seated properly to start with. I only need to get in because my camera glass screen cracked and I ordered a new one and ready to replace it. Thanks.
@PBKreviews4 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can use a suction cup or a tool thin enough to get in between the back plate and frame to give you leverage to get your pry tool in between so you can start working your way around the edges to pry the back off. Also check to see if the camera lens you ordered is just the lens itself, since its possible the camera lens cover is just held down with adhesive so you can try prying the broken glass part off and applying the new one on instead of prying the whole back plate off and worrying about sealing it back up.

Which cable is the antenna cable? Apparently mines loose
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
You would need to check both white and blue cable, as well as making sure the top and bottom plastic covers are in place and screwed down properly since those have antenna lines running through them. You would also need to make sure the motherboard and sub board or charger port board are properly seated and in place as well since they have antenna contact points which touch points on the midframe.

Could you use the pro's charger port board in the stylus? Would that unlock 15w charging in the stylus?? I wonder if you could unlock it with software...
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
I believe you should be able to use it with no problems but sometimes different region ones have different antenna contacts on that charger port board so it might give an issue with signal but not 100% sure. As far as the 15w charging, not too sure, it would probably be a software and hardware change. Usually there is a chip somewhere either both on battery or board which handles the charging so it's possible one phone board might have that chip and other may not. Would have to do trial and error with both phones to know for sure.

I have a hard time letting somebody pry into my phone bc I figure they don't care much about what they are doing like a lot other people's work... Looks good from their house. My phones only about 5 months old and if somebody goes in it I'd like it to be me. Which brings me to my next question; what kind of tapes and adhesives are good to use for phone repair? It seems like my lense is just glued on the outer edge of the digitizer frame but I'm not sure. I have a grave yard of motos, g6s, g7s probably 5 good phones if I just replace the digitizer s on them, maybe power cable on one. Any secrets shared will be much appreciated 😉.

Unless you have the machines and tools as well as expertise to replace just the glass/lens then it is impossible. They are not made for end user replacing. Usually factories and such have the tools needed to do that. They are glued together so you trying to separate it on your own well result in breaking or damaging the screen itself. Only way to do it yourself would be to replace the entire screen. As for adhesive you can use 300LSE or smartphone red tape or check to see if there is already precut adhesive made for the phone available online.

So if you lost or broke the stylus and you couldn't put it back in the phone. The stylus chamber is not sealed off from the rest of the phone internally and presents the problem of your phone being extremely suseptable to the elements of moisture, sand, dust, dirt, lint, insects etc... getting inside. Chances are they might not even offer a replacement outside the warranty period. They do not offer it as a purchase item if you want an extra. This is probably going to stop me from purchasing this phone. Keep in mind all the cases will have an opening for the stylus also so you can't cover it up with your case. You would have to plug it up somehow. The stylus wouldn't last me more than a few months at best. Not for the outdoorsy type.

Replacement stylus is offered for $15 officially. In general every Lenovo/Acer/Moto part you can think of, you can get it from an authorised Lenovo replacement parts distributor, which are all over the world. The prices are a bit of a premium though, you could be paying $30 for a USB socket or $140 for a laptop keyboard, but it sure beats "no parts" policy of other companies.

Hi, anytime the phone gets in water, its best to turn the phone off completely and take it apart asap to disconnect the battery to prevent it from shorting. If you attempt to use the phone you can short out and damage the main board or other components and render the device useless. For taking it apart, apply heat with a hair dryer or heat gun so the adhesive is loosened. Then you can use a suction tool for smartphones or if you don't have one you can use a thin razor to get in between the backplate and frame of the phone then lift up a bit to get your pry tool in between. Also yes afterward you would need to reapply new adhesive. They sell pre cut adhesive for the phone. You can check mobiledefenders.com

Do you know how to fix this kind of phone? I really need help
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi, well the video shows how to take it apart to replace parts, that's the point of the video. If you need parts for it, they are sold on mobiledefenders.com

What kind of adhesive do you use?
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
Usually I try to get the original pre cut adhesive made for the phone if its available, you can check mobiledefenders.com or eBay. If not available you can use 300lse or smartphone red tape or other adhesive tapes and cut down strips to use.

How to replace the rear camera glass..
@PBKreviews2 жыл бұрын
The glass camera lens cover can be removed by applying heat and prying the glass portion off. They sell replacement parts for this phone on mobiledefenders.com

@@PBKreviews I just figured after watching another video that that’s how it works. Thanks for replying though and dang. I ordered from Amazon like 5 minutes ago. I got the glass off and figured if my try failed I’d just have to junk the phone. But it worked out.

Can the glass be replaced without disassembling the whole phone?
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
no you would need to take the phone apart to disconnect the cable for the screen assembly that is connected to the main board to be able to replace it.

Is the frame plastic or aluminum?
@PBKreviews4 жыл бұрын
It's both aluminium and plastic in some parts of the midframe.

Where is the internal memory card?
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
there is no internal memory card, the internal storage chip that is soldered onto the board which is not removable is under one of the shields.

This thing is a fucking Nightmare!! You should NEVER have to heat up parts of an electronic device just to open it up, and you're telling me these samsung fuckos DESIGNED it to be such a fire hazard?! No WONDER there's nothing in the manual about it! These dicks want you paying a service fee just to change a bad battery!!
