Motorola Razr 50 & Motorola Razr 50 Ultra are expected to launch in the coming weeks and the official renders of both phones, along with the specifications, have leaked online. This leak suggests some significant upgrades over the Razr 40 series.

In June last year, the Motorola Razr 40 series was launched, featuring the Razr 40 with a small 1.5-inch cover display and the Razr 40 Ultra with a large 3.6-inch cover display, the largest on any clamshell foldable phone. The Motorola Razr 50 series is expected to launch soon, and today we got the official renders of both devices along with the specifications. There are some interesting upgrades this time around.
MOTOROLA RAZR 50
The biggest design upgrade in the Razr 50 is the size of the cover display. Unlike the tiny 1.5-inch cover display on the Razr 40, the Razr 50 features a large 3.63-inch cover display, similar to last year’s Razr 40 Ultra. This is a pOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone comes in at least two color options, one with a sandstone finish and the other with a vegan leather finish. There are dual cameras on the outside, with the display going around the camera cutouts. There is a tall foldable display on the inside with a hole punch cutout in the middle.
As for the specifications, the Motorola Razr 50 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset. This is an unannounced SOC with a CPU going up to 2.5GHz. For comparison, the Razr 40 featured a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC. The phone has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The 4,200mAh battery is the same as last year.
The foldable display on the inside is a 6.9-inch pOLED panel with a Full-HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. For comparison, the Razr 40 featured a 144Hz pOLED display. There is no information on whether the display is LTPO like the predecessor. As for the camera setup on the outside, the primary camera has a 50MP sensor, and the secondary camera uses a 13MP sensor. For comparison, the Razr 40 had a 64MP primary sensor.
There is a 32MP camera on the inside.
The Motorola Razr 50 is slimmer than last year at 7.2mm and weighs the same at 188g.
Finally, Android 14 runs out of the box.
MOTOROLA RAZR 50 ULTRA
The Razr 50 Ultra looks identical to the Razr 40 Ultra with that large cover display and a vegan leather finish on the rear. The cover display is bigger this year at 4.0-inch, compared to 3.6-inch last year. The refresh rate is also bumped up to 165Hz, versus 144Hz. The inner display is a 6.9-inch pOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. It is not mentioned whether the display is LTPO like the predecessor.
Under the hood, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 last year. There is 12GB RAM with 512GB storage. The battery is bigger at 4,000mAh (versus 3,800mAh), and the phone supports 45W wired charging, versus 30W.
The camera setup is upgraded too. The two cameras on the outside have a 50MP sensor each, compared to a 12MP + 13MP setup last year. The inner camera has a 32MP sensor. The phone is thicker than last year (7.2mm vs 6.99mm), probably due to a bigger battery. The weight is 184g.
There is no information on the pricing yet.
