Soon front cameras will not be needed as high res rear cameras will do everything. Fold or roll, we're gonna get amazing compact phones in this decade and that excites me.

That concept of no front camera has already been used once and it flopped,the phone was samsung a80 which has a slidable and rollable rear camera. It was also used in old Asus zenphones like 6,7 and 8 flip but they didn't became much successful either,they were actually enthusiast about the format but they had to stop it with 8.

@@Someoneissus oneplus 7 pro and mi 9t pro was a success. I've been using mi 9t pro for 3 years and the popup camera never failed me

@@menantumakawak and popup camera is a trend that wasn't trusted by the masses as it has moving parts and it was also probably more expensive for companies than a regular camera so they stopped making it,i personally liked popup cameras though. It's the best implementation of a hidden front camera.

I love the concept - no worries about creases, but the longevity of the rollable function has me curious - as the saying goes " the more complicated the plumbing, the easier it is to plug up the drain " - maybe not the best analogy, but you understand. A new gadget I would definitely embrace.

Thanks for this review. I love this concept and Motorola phones. I purchased both the RAZR and the 5G model at launch, so I'll probably get this one too. I just hope that ring screen gets faster... I'm already impatient with that scroll timing.

Hey MJ! Abso-freaking-lutley loved the video! So, with these I guess "concept phones" how does the process work from concept to consumers? Like I'm sure the Fold and Flip had concepts shown and came obviously to market. But what about the ones that don't? Is there like I guess a formula for that? Are they just thrown away?

I love the concept but the durability of the extended screen is questionable as well as the bottom of the rolling section. The bottom will scratch quite a bit if there is no protection when you toss that in the purse or in your pant with lose coins. I also don't think this will make it pass the drop test yet. The roller can also get dirty easy if there isn't a way to stop dirt or dust from getting in and may cause phone to expand.

Appreciate the review and energy of your vids! For me personally this isn't something I'd get, I'm failing to see the usefulness of this design it looks like it's mainly to wow other people you show it off to but even then the gimmick would wear off fast I would think I don't know just me. Give me a phone with no bezel and very long battery life and I'm in lol

Rollable phones are coming. Maybe Motorola won't be the first one to release it to the masses but rollables are definitely coming.

I always appreciate the sincere passion that comes from Josh and this channel. I actually too used to be excited about phones where now most reviewers spend 5+ minutes nitpicking if a color is too saturated for their taste. I just buy a midrange budget phone because the differences are negligible. For me, the last "fun" phones might have been LGs lines. But...they didn't sell so that's our decision.

Foldable are silly. They are big, heavy, and are basically 2 phones sellotaped together! You are carrying 2 heavy phones in your pocket all the time for a very limited use. Rollable, on the other hand, is absolutely on the mark. They can be small and light, just like a normal mobile. But on the occasion you need a bigger screen, it can simply pop out (either on the side or on top). Plus no crease. It's perfect. I don't know why they haven't released many models of rollable yet.

this does not tickle my fancy..... I hate that the screen rolls up and out of the case and everything, the phone looks kinda stupid..... I don't think I would ever choose a phone like this..... I also love big screen phones so the 5.1 is not appealing..... all that said, this is an awesome idea and really amazing technology 😊

I don't see why using this if the part of the screen that's been hidden is going to remain on showing silly stuffs in it. If the hidden part turns off so it won't consume battery, it would be cool, because it will increase the autonomy of the battery, otherwise it seems useless

Any phone can break. Obviously a motor inside a phone has a higher chance to break but that doesn't mean it will. If this phone comes to the U.S. then obviously it would be smart to buy it with extended warranty.

Seems extremely gimmicky and I see a lot of things that could cause problems in terms of durability and built in the long run. How sturdy is the thin rolled out part of the screen? How well does it support being held and used sideways? How many uses of the rolling up/down function are warranted before it might malfunction or defect? All for the small upside of being a little more compact in your pocket without offering anything in particular other than being a regular sized smartphone when rolled out? Again, "gimmicky" is the best word I can find for it.
