It's so funny I'm from the US and I've always loved muscle cars my whole life but I'm just not used to seeing them setup for circuit racing all low and cambered out. I guess that's because all we really get here is Nascar circle track stuff for cars, and all the muscle cars are setup for drag racing or just looking good on the street in stockish form. I just can't get used to seeing them setup for the real race track. I love it. It lends a whole new twist to looks and I can see some body styles really lend themselves well to this circuit look while others look a bit silly with this kind of setup.

Fear not! We fix 'em. Many of them came here as rooted, rusted, banged up shitboxes & required total reconstruction to get 'em race ready. Sure, they get bent... We just straighten 'em out, realign them & send 'em straight back into battle at the next meeting. More modern stuff gets stripped & scrapped. But classic '60s & '70s muscle cars are valuable regardless, so we repair them. Most of the old girls in this category make between 600 & 700 HP, run to around 280KPH & can get seriously deformed in high speed prangs. We just fix 'em.

@@Tony-112 Jimmy Richards is a national treasure... We love him. He was imported from NZ back in '74 to codrive an L34 Torana at Bathurst by a Kiwi team... He damn near won the bloody race straight off the bat! He could swing spanners too & brought a Mustang Sports Sedan over here that he & his Kiwi cohorts had screwed together back in NZ. That thing was a missile! There was bigger money here in OZ in motor racing, so Jimmy shifted over here permanently. He is simply dripping with talent, has won every bloody thing, is the most respected racer in the country has amassed an eyewatering array of carreer wins in all sorts of cars in numerous categories. He really hit the big time here when he shared V8 A9X Toranas with another legend, one Peter Brock to famous end to end victories at Bathurst year after year. He entered Historic racing many years ago & cleaned up in a small block Falcon Sprint that won championships and then went on to build the Javelin to his own specifications. The Javelin is unusual, rare & special, but anyone who knows of Jimmys massive talents will quickly tell you.... You could send him out in a bloody pedal car & he'd find a way to make it a winner. 10 out of 10 for spotting the fastest Javelin on Earth.

It's obvious they can't keep up (they all start at the back, and they finish at the back). #4: This makes NASCAR look sick, real cars in a real no-holds barred race, where you can't leave your left blinker on the whole race! They're on floppy crossply rag Hoosiers & they must have sufficient suspension travel to run over manholes & other "imperfections" on a street circuit. Don't worry... they handle OK considering they're feeding over 600 ponies into fairly skinny tyres... This is all intentional & built into the rules to have them behave similarly to the way they behaved in the good ol' days & makes for plenty scary action. As you can see from Allan's Comet... Not much in the way of downforce with these fabulous time capsules. Just lots of tailly wheelspinning oversteer & slideways action.

keeps the tire temperatures up. When tires are cold at the beginning of the race, they do not have peak grip, so warming them up like that helps them get to the optimum temperature they need for maximum grip. Going in a straight line makes your tires colder. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is it.
@alexjmtester4 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly the tires don't heat up too much from the swerving. It's mostly to make sure that your tires are clear of rocks and debris before the tires get hot and absorb it. Your tire temperatures are almost directly linked to your brake rotor temperatures from heat conduction
