Had a 1991 626 LX...got it after my 84 Mustang GT was wrecked by a fully restored 65 Mustang...Courtesy of the gramps granchild!!!! grabbed a 626 than went till 200,000 miles with 106000, the start. Blue over blue and still ran great even if it wouldn't pass smog! Loving my 2020 stinger a bit more!

The new mazda 6 is the most desirable in its class.

Glad to see they tested this car with the 5 speed instead of the poorly built automatic.

Love it when my car doesn't start because my shift lever is ever so slightly off. Also, standard traction control????? Yeah, my 01 LX-V6 sure doesn't have that. I didn't even know it was an option.

Starting on the '99 model TCS became an option instead of standard on the V6 trims..

Yep. I had one these 98 LX's with those garbage automatics. It slipped and bumped from day one. That base engine was anemic and it made it feel like a pushing boat going down the road. And I had nothing but problems with this car. Traded it in for a 2000 Honda Accord later on.

I have to admit that this was my LEAST favorite 626, & I was so happy to see it put out of its misery in favor of the 6 for '03. Oscillating air vents don't mean a thing if the car they are in isn't a worthy competitor.

Yeah. These were very poor quality in comparison.
@jermainec2462 Жыл бұрын
Sometimes I wonder if Ford had a lot to do with the not so good quality because you hardly see these nowadays I see more camrys and accords of the 90s than I do Mazda 626...

@@jermainec2462 Yeah. I think Ford had a lot of input into it. I had a 98 626 LX 4 cyl and had nothing but problems. That transmission was absolute garbage in that car. After 13 months with it, I traded it for a 00 Accord LX. It was like night and day. That was the first of 4 Accords I've owned since.

@@oldshowfanatic77 I've owned two Honda accords myself so I do understand the switch but I actually have a 2018 Mazda 6 now and I've had no problems for the past year and I'm at almost 70k so far but since they all Japanese now the quality is much better

@@jermainec2462 That's cool. I looked at the Mazda 6 and the Camry, when I was getting rid of my Optima (yep made that mistake in between Accords, haha) but ended up back in a 2018 Accord Touring. Got it before the pandemic hit and have had it ever since. Since I've been working from home, I don't drive it as much and don't even have 45,000 miles on it yet. I love it though. And yes the Mazda 6 is a much better offering and a much improved quality vehicle over the Mazda 626 it replaced.

4 cylinder has a Ford CD4E automatic transmission. That's one of Fords worst Automatic transmission ever made.

I have never had any issues with it yet.

Definitely would have chose this over the Camry and Accord at the time.

I think this is the North American version of 626, an “improvement” from the previous version unlike its global sibling.
