Currently have the 03 EB with the 5.4 fully loaded. I just replaced the screen with some apple carplay and that was it. Ford did some crazy job with that it literally has everything a modern car has. Sunroof, cool and heated seat, defrost side mirror, memory seat, awd options, even the third row seats has ventilation fr ac and heat. At 240k miles, it still going strong keeping up with the maintenance. I love it

Same here man, I got the same one on video with ‘10 f150 limited rims. It’s a powerful truck for its age and replacing all halogens with LEDS

'03 was literally the best year because they switched to the 5.4 3V afterwards and that is when the nightmares started.

I grew up in the backseat of a tan 2003 Expedition. My mom finally sold it when I was 13 after driving it over 200k miles. If I could buy that SUV back I would.

I noticed that John kept saying this looks unrecognizable from the first generation model, but I have to wonder if we're looking at the same truck. Because this was almost nothing like the first generation model. It really was a thorough redesign.

With the exception of the rear tailgate, this generation Expedition has the same doors and glass from the original Expedition in 1997. In fact, those doors and glass remained through the 2017 model year. Having owned the 1st Gen Expy and this 2003 model, I can tell you the change in driving dynamics was amazing. Ford spent the development dollars where it counted, under the body and in the cabin.

Only the front and rear were different from the first generation (on the outside). The side was carried over from the first generation and remained until the 4th generation came in 2018.

Yup still have mine w/ 249k mileage. Downside is working in tight areas. Also gotta watch out for Vacuum leaks and blown out spark plugs. But still driving my family.

Love my fully loaded 04 Eddie Bauer 247k and everything still works except for the DVD player, before that we had a 1999, we replaced the engine at 289k with a used engine and it died again at 394k, noticed how I never mentioned anything about the transmission, rear end, radiator, a/c compressor? far as I know all that stuff had 394K on it and the a/c worked up until the day it died, though the blower motor only worked on high

I got a 03 EB and it runs like a champ. Makes me feel as if I’m driving a work truck which is good
@MrHeem9410 ай бұрын
Yep. Much of the problems came from lack of maintenance. My Wife's 06 has 203,000 miles and we just changed out the original VCT solenoids. Cake job.

Too bad this generation merely only lasted between 2003-2006 before abruptly redesigning it for 2007 for no good reason.
@MrHeem9410 ай бұрын
That's literally their 4 year redesign cycle. And the new one wasn't that much different.
@ProudBostonian8 ай бұрын
Well the first generation lasted 6 years (from ‘97-‘02) before they redesigned it….they could’ve and should’ve done the same with the 2nd Gen and all subsequent generations as well.

The 2003-2006 Expedition and Navigator were beautiful and iirc the only generation that offered 4 corner air suspension. The 07-14 were nice too buy just had some untangable something missing to them.

I have both 1997 ford expedition with the 4.6 with 110,000 miles on it and it’s in pristine condition no rust at all. and it’s a xlt 4x4 love it and will never sell it. and I have a 2004 ford expedition xlt sport with the 5.4 2v with 194,000 on it and it’s also clean no rust at all and it’s my daily driver and this truck is actually the vehicle I had first and I love it to death. Iam gonna be getting some nice set of wheels and tires for it soon too it’s loaded with sun roof and tv for a xlt that’s amazing and tan interior.keeping both of them💯

I had an 03 Expedition back in high school that looked just like the tester. An Aspen Green Eddie Bauer 4x4 with the 5.4. Very slow but ultimately a good truck. I was lucky not to have an issue with the spark plugs back then.
@DanielW-wz4gj9 ай бұрын
The 2 valve 5.4 didn't have a problem with spark plug ejection or the threads

@@DanielW-wz4gj interesting. I remember when I was a teenager the shop that changed mine out said it required a special tool to do and was a pain to change out. They charged me a lot of money!

I renember my parents having a 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer and they bought it with 60k miles. It was in perfect condition and was loaded with options, But we were unfortunate to buy one with the 5.4 3v... at 100k it had leaks due to the roof rusting, and the engine kept going in the shop once a month. at 120k the engine started losing power and we would break down on the highway constantly, and the car alarm will keep going off and not allow us to start it, the anti thief system was faulty. We got rid of it at 125k and at that point the engine won't start up, and when it did it would only run on 4 cylinders, and the windows won't even work too. Sorry for the long comment but it was the only fancy-ish car my parents owned when I was younger. Loved it except for that krap 3v.

Grew up with an ‘03 Expedition the egg crate grille and power folding third row seats made it special. The transmissions suck though.

Ours literally wore out at 80K miles. Had it rebuilt with carbon friction material and all new solenoids. It was beast after that. Best truck I ever owned.
@HAL-dm1eh Жыл бұрын
@@jetsandblades I have found the 4r70w transmission hit or miss. It was worn down in my Crown Vic at around 120K miles, but went 240K in my Expedition performing flawlessly.
