Before everybody starts chirping: *this Northstar is not the same FWD Northstar found in a Deville, etc.* This is a completely different, longitudinal engine, which shares name and displacement only.
@johnnymason24606 ай бұрын
The two Northstar engines are related but are not the same. They function differently.

I own a 2004 Seville and a 2006 STS V8 1SG. "name and displacement only" - wrong. For the STS, they used a longitudinal engine with RWD and VVT (more power). Still the same basic 4.6 N*

That was high end to have Bluetooth audio playback in 2005. This was pre-CarPlay.

This was a very competitive era for luxury sedans: a new Lexus GS300/430 and Acura RL came out at the time, each with much better fit-and-finish than the STS. But also, the Infiniti M35/45 came out at that time and it sold very well because of its styling - it truly was the golden age of Infiniti.

JD made a mistake there at the end--the STS is RWD or AWD only not FWD.

They kept calling it FWD. Motorweek isn't usually that sloppy.
@johnnymason24606 ай бұрын
I'm sure they probably just made a mistake. They were probably so used to FWD Cadillacs that they weren't seeing the STS as a RWD car.

It comes with Bluetooth audio streaming in 2005? That's impressive.
@deni1964967 ай бұрын
Only Bluetooth calling. A2DP for Bluetooth Audio streaming wasn't included in GM cars until at least 2009.

It had HUD

I didn’t know this car could come with a heads up display. That’s awesome!
First, he said it was rear wheel drive then it shows it’s front wheel drive or all wheel drive. What happened to the rear wheel drive model?

The 2005+ STS has always been RWD or AWD 2004-SLS/STS was only FWD
@iluvcamaros1912 Жыл бұрын
It's an error/typo. This car is RWD or AWD.

Wow and Nissan at the time just released the new Maxima and that had 265 hp

Lol how is that relevant to this video? 😂

One the 3.6L V-6 got DI, they only made 20 less HP, then the V-8, and were quicker than the early port injected 3.6L. However, the DI 3.6L was also a peakier engine, so still had to be revved out.

Were these good cars? Someone who had one please chime in!

Yes they’re amazing cars. They don’t have the typical Northstar problems that everyone likes to make fun of. I had a 2009 STS-V in particular and the interior quality is SO much better of the CTS at the time and arguably better than the second generation CTS too. Only things I didn’t like were the seats, they were a little unsupportive and hard for me liking, but then again I had the V so I came in expecting more sporty stuff. For regular every day use the seats are just fine though. Car was 100% reliable and gave me a great feeling of safety, they’re certainly large cars. My old STS is the one car I wish I had never sold

Good, as in reliable, mine while it never left me sitting on the Road, picking up Pieces, it did require many Parts replaced, under Warranty. Seat Recall, Heater Core, Water Pump, Timing Chains, Leaking Trunk Lid, Stabilizer Links, Rear Door Handle(antenna for fob). Out of Warranty, Shift Controller, Bose Amp, EVAP Purge Valve, Rear Wheel Bearing, Headlight Bulbs(gotta take the damn Front End off), 2 or 3 Ignition Coils. Thermostat Housing had been leaking the last several years, but I wasn't going to Pay to have the Engine Dropped to fix that. One Engine Mount, and the Diff Bushings. Was a fun car to Drive, if the Roads were smooth as Glass, otherwise the ride was Kidney Bruising Harsh. Quite heavy for a small Car. Was good on Gas on the Highway, could get 38mpg(imp)

they made a separate video for the stsv which is rwd.

The older ones yes, 05 and up are just fine. Especially the ones used in RWD/AWD applications
