Thousands still on the road today.

Drive into any major US city and you’ll still see countless examples of this generation of Tahoe/suburban still on the road. Which is truly impressive seeing that the youngest models of these trucks are 15 years old now.

The 2000-2006 generation was a home run imo.

I have long said, GM needs to go find the engineers that designed these, pull them out of retirement and let them design their newest generation of trucks.

I still see at least 50 of these a day. They're fantastic vehicles. Guzzle lots of gas, but man are they reliable. I'd love a Base model Yukon XL with cloth seats and a 3rd row.

We still have a 2002 Yukon XL that runs solid, two owners.

I don't know what GM made these things out of, but there's still thousands of these things on the road to this day.

These and the GMT-400 platform trucks are everywhere. Last good generations of Gm trucks.

Our 03 Tahoe has 277k miles. Still drives great!

Funny how much cleaner these looked with the body colored door handles and mirrors.

I see these everywhere to this day and the ones that pop up for sale regularly have 300k+ miles

Now this makes me feel old, I remember when my dad bought his Denali of this generation, still kicking ass today!

These GMT800s are still everywhere here in Bahrain, Saudia and Kuwait of all places. My uncle in fact used to own a Yukon from such generation before he replaced it with the now last gen GMC Yukon. Let's say it's proven to be far less reliable than the older one somehow.

Retro review of this--20 years ago??? My goodness I remember when these came out. I was 15 and I was excited looking through the brochures at every trim option speccing out my preferred Tahoe. Dang I'm getting old.

Man these things now days cost 2 and 3 times as much. Thats crazy.

I love these suvs from GM... A lot of tahoes, suburbans ans yukon's are on the road here in Norway, people here love them:) Me myself have a very nice chevy suburban 2002mod 8,1liters vortec.

i see at least dozens of this generation literally every day. my old boss was absolutely loaded and still daily drives the loaded suburban he bought new in ‘01.

These look nicely rounded and aged so well. They are comfy, reliable, and can pull a small boat. I want a 4x4 GMC Yukon in red.

One nice thing about these vehicles is that you can change a headlight, front turn signal, or daytime running light bulb without tools! Very easy to do. Most vehicles today you have to remove the inner fender, bumper cover and grille to do the same change!

These are still on the road, unfortunately the interior parts were incredibly bad.

The LM7 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 was the BEST engine GM put into their light-duty trucks and SUV's... they started to get a bit less reliable once GM decided to equip them with the AFM (Active Fuel Management) System, but the LM7's are great. :)

All around the city I still see these 2000-06 SUV's. Running strong! We have an 02 4.8 regular cab that has absolutely no issue to this day. Unbelievable quality that was built then. Before the AFM EPA BS

Now that these are 20 years old and have like 285,000 miles on them...they're still expensive to buy used. Certainly C4C is somewhat to blame, but they're sturdy and can be kept running indefinitely.

My aunt used to have a 2001 Suburban. She totaled it in 2017 with just over 250k miles. That was an extremely well built SUV, never gave her any major issues in 16 years.

See Karen? This is an SUV. Not your 4-cylinder trash, front-wheel drive, lifted box. Man these are beautiful!! I had the previous model, a '93. Last time I checked, it was still running with 300,000+ miles on it. Always wanted one of these newer ones as they styling is so nice. It still retains the styling queues of the old, even though every inch of it is pretty much new. They were not very good on gas, but who cares. If you were getting one of these, gas wasn't a problem. Plus, these are indestructible. I wish I could find a nice, low-mile one. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I always liked and still to this day, the GMC counterparts of the GM full size SUVs and pickup trucks. The GMC grill is nice and clean and not cluttered with the split grill and bowtie, like on the Chevrolet models. I would like to look out for a GMC Yukon Denali version, as that is the version I like from this generation of GM full size SUVs. Great upload, Motorweek.

Still driving a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. Has 183k miles and after getting a few needed repairs done, I'm sure it'll run another 100k

This generation is what I picture when I hear "Chevy Tahoe" or "GMC Yukon".

I have a Tahoe (here in Mexico was called Sonora), from 2001, and it is different in that it still was built (in the USA) with the old 350! Such a sweet motor! We are the first owners, and imho from the next generation onwards the trucks are a step backwards. The cylinder deactivation tecnology apparently gives lots of troubles. These 2000 generation is so reliable.

Just picked up a 2000 Tahoe with 96000 on the clock. Just getting broken in. The last great generation of GM trucks IMO

These things still own the roads. The 99-06 GM full size Trucks and SUVs are the best trucks ever made. These trucks know reliability like the back of their hood :)

2005 Tahoe z71 still daily drive. These generation GM trucks and SUVs are rock solid.

These where the last suvs before gimmicks and unnecessary park assist lane change etc took over suvs that’s why u still have a lot of them around not a lot can go wrong clean ones will go up in value imo later on for sure ...

The greatest generation of these. End of story.

These are probably the height of GM's large SUV engineering. They just simply WORK! I still see many on the road, and many in decent condition. Oh boy, the Suburban 2500 was so under-appreciated! But yes, with this generation, GM built up a cult following that till this day maintains 60%+ of the full-size SUV market.

My 2000 2500 suburban is an incredible vehicle. My parents bought a 01 yukon xl new and still drive it today, i went down to AZ to find a rust free stock gmt800....the 4l80e, lq4 and legendary comfortable gmt800 interior is the best combo. I dont care that 15 mpg is a good tank, there's no vehicle id rather take anywhere. Unstoppable in snow, tons of ground clearance, room for stuff and people, quiet, comfortable, can tow anything, rides great, incredible turning radius...its the best SUV ever made.

I've seen this era of Tahoe/Yukon on the streets of South Carolina with lots of mods including huge rims.

I have an 01 Tahoe 5.3 4x4 and I love it. 215,000 miles on the dash but its running great. I did a lot of maint. in the 2 years I've owned it as I plan to keep it as long as I can. New belt, tensioner, idler pulley. New AC belt and ac tensioner, new ac compressor and accumulator. New intake manifold gasket, new fuel pump, new water pump. New front and rear rotors and breaks. New bilstien shocks. New spark plugs. New stereo, speakers, replaced factory sub. And I had the transmission rebuilt 3 months ago. I got the Tahoe for $100 not running (fuel pump). Cosmetically it's in great shape and almost no rust on body and superficial surface rust on a solid frame. I have done all the installs and repairs to the vehicle myself aside from the transmission rebuild. $100 (purchase) + $1100 (parts and upgrades) + $2600 (transmission rebuild) and all in all I have a very sorted Tahoe for under 4k.

And nearly all of them were sold in what I call 'Yukon Gold'

I’m a Ford guy but will happily admit the GMT800 platform is the best vehicle platform ever made. These along with the regular trucks are still everywhere. Unbelievable quality and reliability.

I had a 2002 Tahoe LT. I absolutely loved that SUV. After 10 years and over 200k, I finally had to let it go.

My daily work truck is a RWD 5.3L 2004 Tahoe with 310k miles on it, and I'm picking up an AWD 6.0L 2005 Yukon Denali with 90k miles this weekend. These things are some of the most reliable tanks on the road. The Tahoe feels like a vehicle with 1/3rd the mileage. The powertrain, suspension, brakes, and chassis are all in strong shape. Only one out of four windows works and the only gauges still functioning are the speedometer, the odometer, and the fuel gauge... but the thing is a solid, dependable performer that has never let me down. That's why I'm buying another one while I still can! If only GM still knew how to build vehicles this good.

Have a 99 Silverado myself, and my roommate has an 04 Suburban, these cars are great machines and literally my entire family drives a truck or SUV from this gen

I still have an 01 XL that I tow a 5k lb travel trailer with. Still gets the job done with minimal problems. No way I would drop $60k+ on a new one. They just aren't made like this anymore

Still see that body style Chevy and GMC's suv's everyday. My aunt has a 2006 GMC Yukon she bought it brand new in late 2005 and it currently has over 200k miles and it still runs without any issues. My aunt pampers her Yukon.

I JUST bought a 2000 Yukon xl with 144k miles. Seems great so far

Have a mint condition Black 2004 Escalade ESV 6.0 AWD with 325K and still runs great !! Was a private limo in Dallas since new, So it was ALWAYS GM dealer maintained :) Paint has a mirror finish !! best $2800 I ever spent !!!

I have a 2001 Surburban just hit 113,000 miles. Interior is in great shape with no rips looks new. I love my truck. My kids don’t like it because it’s all factory no aux cord , but they have no idea what they’re sitting in.! 🤣

I saw this and had to look at it. Made me miss my 2002 Tahoe so much. I kept it for 16 years and 235K and never ever gave it a tune up. It was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I finally traded it for a 2019 Traverse Premier which I really love, hope I can get half the great service from it as I did the Tahoe, thanks for this video

Have owned several of those suv's in the last 10 years !!! My current one is a rust free Texas 2001 Suburban 1500 LT 5.3 with 325K miles, factory tow pkg has 3:73 and posi rear end 2 owner truck well kept straight body. STOLE IT for $1500 !! I use it to haul around car parts for my business :)

I love this generation so much when I was in 4th grade we got a 2001 suburban and we owned it for 4 years and sold it with over 300k miles and it still ran nice and smooth the next one we bought was a 2002 GMC Yukon XL and we've owned it for almost 7 years and we still have it to this day and along with that my mom now has a 2004 Chevy suburban that we bought back in April the 2000-2006 generation is a big part of our family

You know what really grinds my gears?? Captain chairs for 2nd row seats in a suburban or any full size suv

My 2006 GMC yukon 4x4 has been a great rig. With the 4.10 locking rear diff and my Dyno tune it moves out pretty quick for what it is.

I have an 02 Tahoe bought from the dealership would not trade it for anything. My wife drove it for 20 years, we just bought a 22 Yukon, what a difference in size.

Hi I have a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe it's my everyday transportation bought it brand new. I watch MotorWeek every Saturday, I always want to see the video where they test driving the Tahoe and the suburban.

Love these. 03 and up with the slight interior refresh. Still want one to this day.

I had a '03 Tahoe I drove to 380k miles on my own before selling it. I didn't buy new again. Instead I found an '04 Suburban with 100k miles for $4500 and am very pleased as well as expecting another 300k miles. Talk about bang for your buck.

With 310,000 miles on my 2003 Suburban z71, I am still happy!🤠 Last month I had a 2005 Suburban z71 park next to mine and they had over 500,000 miles on theirs!🤔

Those trucks may be from the 2000s, but those 4WD buttons are PURE 1991 aesthetic. HRRRRNNNNGH.

I work at my local chevy dealership in the service department. I rarely see these, but anytime I do see one, I enjoy driving one!

On my 5 mile commute to work I see at least 10 GMT800s, one day I drove around for about 40 minutes and counted about 50 of them. My 2005 Sierra has 220k on the clock and shows no signs of ever stopping, rust will kill it before the drivetrain dies. They are the best trucks and SUV's ever made

I’ve got a 2005 Yukon XL Denali, still in great shape after 15 years. More luxurious to me then the following year Denali, and man I sure love the 6.0 really makes that heavy bus move!

i bought a 2005 tahoe 5 years ago...been in plain view Texas from AZ ,California about 4 times,vegas about 14 times ,sholow AZ 2 times, el grand canyon, flagstaf, Payson, sholow, got 2000k and I do all maintenance...i love this trucks...and i still lots of them in the road...silverados,C10S ...love chevys

Just bought an ‘02 from my neighbors mom. Great car and only 90,000 miles. Needed a little work, but it will keep going for years to come.

My 2nd favorite generation of the Chevrolet Suburban nameplate behind the new T1 platform 2021 model.

My 04 Yukon 2500XL goes anywhere I point it off road. The 8.1 L is a beast, pulls hard and has plenty of torque. She runs the highway at 90 mph very smoothly. Off road I’ve conquered the mountain passes of southern Colorado with just a 2” lift. For camping I can lie flat inside comfortably with both rear benches removed. They are available CHEAP on the used car market. Plenty durable. They go over 250k miles no problem. So it’ll go anywhere, on or off road, and you can sleep inside. That is a win in my book

My mom has one of these trucks, was the first car I ever drove. It recently crossed 189k miles and has not given up yet. They're bulletproof.

I love my 02 Suburban! 252k and tow with it, climb trails, etc and she keeps kickin.

Reminds me of Tony Soprano's Suburban that he drove in the early seasons, though his was a '99.

Picked up a 2004 Burb for my Overlanding Adventures

Was looking for a larger interior than my little micro van mazda5. I was amazed at how the seats in these were no larger than mine and the second row had no more room as well. I ended up with an f150 crewcab and it's absolutely enormous in the front and second row compared to these. The room inside these trucks remind me of my wifes 2003 envoy.
