If you notice on the rear shock there is a valve for a shock pump, like one you would use on a mountain bike. You maybe able to add air to make the shock firmer

Yeah ive had a couple peeps fill them up to 200psi and they said it made a very small difference but they still bottom out easily. Its just a very cheap shock meant for kids. Chances are ill get a decent dnm shock once i do the qs165 swap.

Ahh gotcha, you want something you can ride out of thr box. Yeah i still run my 48v mototec battery in my rsf and currently in my b1 while waiting for my 72v b1 battery, and its been an awesome little 48v that handles over 3kw easy! You could throw a fardriver 72300 s12 on a stock mototec for like 160 bucks, wire it in and your doing around 40 mph. The electro&co kit is expensive as hell and they force you to buy their motor, when the stock motor is more than enough.

On your mototec builds do you have fuses? I’m installing a new battery, controller, and motor but I’m wondering if I should keep the fuse box from the battery to controller.
@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon 28 күн бұрын
Negative, get rid of the fuse as you'll most likely be pulling way more than that stock 40 amp fuse can handle! If you have a nice controller like a em50, fardriver, or vesc controller they will have built in protection. Unless of course, you wanna throw in a a beefy 100+ amp fuse for piece of mind.

@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon Жыл бұрын
It used to not come with a motor this is a recent update. They were having problems with the different variations of these motors and sending put controllers that didnt work and needed to be shipped back for a retune. So obviously it was a huge inconvenience so they now only sell it with their version of the mototec motor at a higher cost for the whole kit to make sure it works the first time.

You said the battery connects directly to the charge port, as oem, but the oem charge port connection is thru the controller I thought? My bad. Just took mine apart and looked. There's a 2 pin (red/blk) and a 1 pin (blue) from the charge port. The blu 1 pin went to the controller. No idea what that is. I wish they had a key included so parking it wasn't an easy "just hit the on switch and go". I use mine for local trips and without some semblance of theft protection this is a downgrade from stock.

Gotcha yeah the etm is like 3300 for the 5000 which is the 72v theres also the etm minis those are the smaller versions but same power. You can build a mototec like i did aswell it was 1100 for the bike 500 for the controller kit in this video, and another 1000 for the battery so you definitely save a little. The etm is supposed to have a slightly better shock than the mototec and the newer ones have forged triple trees from what electro&co has told me. But if your like me and plan to mod the plastics and suspension anyways its probably best to go with a mototec. Im not sure what the z6 is, is it one of those electric grom clones?

Yeah if you dont wanna go the mototec route atleast get the full size etm whats 2k the etm mini is pretty small like a razor mx/sx with 10/12 tires and the full size has 12/14 with a longer swing arm and longer forks. Much better for upgrades 🤘

@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon 5 ай бұрын
Yeah im not sure why i said 30mph lol. First video jitters lmao the etm kit will still end up the same 35ish mph. They were having pairing issues with the stock motors so they started selling the kit with theirs so it worked out of the box and didnt need to be shipped back out to re tune. The etm motor just has thicker phase cables so it handles the heat slightly better.

Any issues to report with the new controller? You mentioned the motor runs hot in another vid. Does the overheating switch the motor off as fail safe or anything? How does the mileage or run time change with the new controller?
@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
So far not a single issue. Yes the motor gets really hot on 72v, but im also full pinned most of the time 🤣 electro&co will have a motor soon that can better handle the 72v power so thats always an option. Either way i havent had to use my back up motor yet! As far as run time with the stock battery id say it almostt cuts run time in half depending on how hard you ride it. So if your riding all out all the time i would say get a bigger amp hour (ah) battery i recommend 72v but it looks like the controller kits that are coming out now do 40mph with the 48v which is fast!

@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
The stock battery with the upgraded controller probably lasts around 30 to 45 min of hard use. In my case i pretty much just do wheelies and stay away from full throttle constantly so it lasted me a couple hours. It all just depends on how you ride. Right now i have a 72v 24ah battery that lasts longer than i can rides but if i had to put a number on it i could probably ride for 25 to 30 miles of regular riding and wheelies. Probably 15 to 20 miles if i was at full throttle the whole time. Hope that answers your question 🙏

Nice vid I'm I just can't understand why anyone would pay 500 bucks for 125 worth of parts. Was there a specific reason you did?
@EmxBrandon
@EmxBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
I understand for some people it might seem crazy since your pretty well versed in tuning controllers and knowing what parameters to set but for the guys like me who arent very knowledgeable in this type of stuff its worth paying. Some reasons would be my time, it would take me weeks maybe longer of figuring out how to set the controller to make the most power out of this specific motor, learning field weakening all that good stuff so id rather pay the guys who know what they are doing who have done the r&d that way i can simply plug and play. Everything we pay for in life comes at a premium for instance i put up fences if the customer did it themselves they would save thousands of dollars on labor fencing doesnt take a genious but people will pay for the convenience of not doing it themselves. But i do understand where your coming from i work on my own vehicles id rather pay 100 bucks for a clutch on ebay and install it myself rather than pay someone 3k to do it for me. Hope that makes sense. Plus electro and co's amazing customer service makes it feel more than worth the price if anything happens they are right there ready to help or replace, where if i was to try tuning the controller myself and blew the motor, batter, ect. now its on me and im gonna end up spending more to replace whatever i blew up. Then theres figuring out what throttle works with what hoping i dont buy the wrong stuff that works together. Im paying for the time and knowledge they put into their product 💯
