Great review as usual Kyle. I swapped out the Tractionator GPS for a Tractionator Adventure on the front and kept the Tractionator GPS on the rear of my AT and love it. I also get that front end weave at 75+mph but we don't have rain grooved highways. Overall an amazing combo.

My buddy Travis did the same combo on his AT - and eventually removed the front due to the infamous Motoz Wiggle. He swapped out for the MItas E10 Dakar front and really really likes that set-up. Very aggressive and still road compliant at speed. On the BMW F850GS in this video, I actually just mounted up the Dunlop Mission tire on the Front wheel and and ran it with this Adventure tire on the Rear wheel... and LOVE LOVE that combo! Smooth on the highway and a KILLER in the dirt. Thanks for watching! - Kyle

@@chaparralmotorsports great videos! I’ve watched almost all your dual sport tire reviews and have learned a lot. Thank you! Question. You mention using a Dunlop mission front and the motoz adventure rear. Why not the rallZ rear in that scenario? I’m new to adventuring and have a KYM 890 coming in a month. I live in Colorado and would ride slab to get to Jeep passes like the alpine loop and black bear. What do you recommend? Tires I’ve looked at, motoz GPS, adventure, RallZ, and the Dunlop trailmax mission. Thanks!

Silica in tires is for bounce. Silica does not like to bounce. Vs regular butyl rubbers. You are the tire god btw.. just so you know sir Kyle!! I’m stuck deciding between the desert/ or the adventure for my tiger 900 rally. Both tubeless of course, but only Q rated for adventure tires. Not that I spend more than a few seconds over 99-122 unless passing etc. would love your advice. I live in FL so deep sugar sand is what we have here. Hard pack, gravel, and then Bam deep sand appears then back to hard pack. I ride 80/20 really but would like to change that with some grip I’ll happily venture off road more than not. Little bit terrifying with the tires triumph sold the bike with. Lol..

Kyle, I’m looking for a tire to take me to the Arctic and back. I’ve done this trip 3 times before, once on K60 Scouts and the last 2 times on Mitas E07s. E07s were superior to the Scouts however I still need more traction on the front. The Dempster highway is nearly 500 miles long and extremely slick when wet. What do you recommend, the Adventure or Rallz? It’s 2,800 miles each way so I need something that can get me about 6,000 miles. Thanks

I had this tire on the rear of a DR650. 130/80 17. It is a beast off road. I can not recommend it for on road though at that size. Very sketch. I also lost the rear of the bike in a curve and went down. Broken shoulder. I think this was a combo of cool air temps in the high 50s and a cold tire as we had been resting about an hour. This happened within the first mile. The tire had about 200 miles on it at that time. Possibly low air pressure. A week after the wreck I checked and it was only about 13 pounds. I had set it to 18 the day of that ride. Have 3k miles on the tire now and lots of cold weather riding and riding in the rain. Extremely sketchy tire for me on tarmac in those conditions. Maybe it's the size and profile and it's a better tire on wider rims. It is more stable on pavement when north of 30 psi and for that bike still does really well off pavement at those pressures so that is where I've left the tire in terms of pressure. Ymmv of course just adding to the discussion. Wonderful off road tire. Trust it 💯. On road I about 20% trust it. Very squirmy feeling in the Twisties. I am a heavy guy. Not sure if the extra weight is a factor or not.
@chaparralmotorsports
@chaparralmotorsports 4 жыл бұрын
Oh man!!! We hope that you have fully recovered! Thank you for your feedback Paul. I think there are a lot of factors working there... The rim width is a HUGE factor. My KTM 950 Super Enduro has a narrow rim and when I put the larger (wider) tire (just 10mm) on that bike it became sketchy! The breakover angle becomes SUPER steep and you loose A LOT of contact patch in the corners. Your DR650 comes stock with a 120 rear... the 130 is just too wide, although it does "fit" on the rim. The cold temps with a cold tire that has minimal contact patch when leaned over is a total recipe for this to happen. Off Road - they are totally amazing, that is for sure. Thanks for watching. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@Mightycaptain
@Mightycaptain 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Recovered now. It was slow to complete recovery. Amazing how fast your muscles go away when in a sling for 6 weeks. Was back on the bike in about 10 weeks. Been riding since but very carefully lol. The thing about that down is I wasn't speeding. Was probably slow in that corner. No sand. Not wet. No throttle. Just clean pavement. And it just slipped right out from under me right at the Apex. Lean angle was very reasonable. I definitely wasn't peg dragging. When I seen you railing that rallz in your video I was like no way would I do anything close to that on the adventure on my bike. Maybe the softer compound in the rallz makes it better on pavement despite being more offroad focused. But listen I appreciate the heck out of the work you've put in on these tires tests. You've really covered a lot of tires that not much info existed on in video form. I'm going for that Dunlop after the karoo 3 wears out on my 790. I did upgrade motorcycles. Still have the dr650 for now. But man is that KTM awesome.

@@Mightycaptain Thanks for saving me, I was literally about to hit the purchase button. I figured 10mm over would be fine on my DR650, guess I'll keep looking. Do you have any other tires you could suggest by chance? Yep, I know how that feels. I broke my collarbone last november and it sucked, lol. recoveries are the worst.
@Mightycaptain
@Mightycaptain 4 жыл бұрын
@@0xsergy Just from looks and the fact the the tire is a bit softer. I think the rallz might be a better tire than the adventure. Would wear out sooner but I think it would stick better in cooler temperatures. Based on the fact that it's softer. I also like that it doesn't have that center tread. On pavement the adventure just kind of falls off of that center pieces on the edges suddenly when cornering. I think that sudden harsh transition is what makes it so suspect. At least on the DR. The rallz offset rear pattern would transition smoother I think.
@Mightycaptain
@Mightycaptain 4 жыл бұрын
@@0xsergy To be sure too if your riding a DR. Most people run the 130 tires on the DR stock rear rim. I think that this tire on that rim is not a good match. That center lug is the reason. Just to quick a fall over to the side lugs.

I ride a Africa Twin in Colorado. I bought the Motoz GPS and I am not thrilled with the traction and lack confidence on our "kitty litter" dirt roads but I thought I'd be pounding more long distance slab, then I found a killer deal on a older BMW R1200RT so the AT's role changed. I'm a high mileage rider just did 3000 mi in 100 hours on RT. Need something that's also good on highway just to make time to get to the 'fun' stuff. Enough background. Should I put the Adventure tire on the front and keep the GPS on the rear or just go with a full set of the Rallz? Love the reviews!!!
@vanbrudenrijden5932

Oh, I should add the GPS was put on the "wrong" way for mostly road, so I am think of reversing it and putting on the Adventure on the front, I noticed you did that on your GS. Will that solve my problems with traction problems on loose surfaces? Or just go with a full set of the Rallz?
@chaparralmotorsports
@chaparralmotorsports 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, in our 50/50 ADV testing the Rallz performed much better on dirt/gravel than the GPS'. The Rallz took 3rd in dirt/gravel while the GPS' took 5th. The downfall is the mileage. The Rallz only got an estimate of about 4,500 miles whereas the GPS got about 12,000. so there is a tradeoff depending on what you need/is important to you. Mixing could work too.
