Wow the trails have been designed for toddlers to hike. None of this was around in the 1980's. Wonder if park service located the lean-to we built. Probably dismantled/burned. Trail to and up Marcy, was very rugged and swampy. Made too easy for today's relaxed hikers.

We did that last mile from Marcy Dam out, we were coming from Avalanche lake, in the dark. God sent us an angel from Canada and he met us at that last mile junction and led the way out! ❤❤❤Loved your video!

You make great videos man and i hope to see more of your adventures, i was thinking of going up Algonquin through the avalanche path and you showed me just how bad it is, not a trail you would want to go down on and if you plan to go up need good hiking shoes.

Great video. Very well put together, enjoyed your calm and wholesome demeanor throughout the video. Cinematography s top notch as well. I am a native to the Adirondacks and I am planning to hike Algonquin in July. Nice job!

Great video. The sight of the Marcy dome always was majestic. I don't think I ever saw Algonquin hiked from Lake Colden.

I hiked Algonquin many years ago from the other direction and returned via the Avalanche Lake catwalk along the cliff side. Too bad you missed that as it’s very beautiful. I did most of my hiking in the White Mountains and in the Mt. Kahtadin area. Your cinematography and editing are excellent and I especially liked how you edited out the selfie stick and camera. I’d never seen anyone else do that. Happy trails!

Great hike. Love watching your adventures! This hike looked beautiful. Those rocks on the trail can really cause pain, physically and mentally.

Great video! Really appreciated all of the detail and commentary you provided. Lucky for you, you were actually nowhere near the 'floating log' section of trail. That area is farther down the Lake Arnold trail. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. Hope you make some return trips to the ADK.

Awesome that you finally made up there. We did the same thing on our 1st trip tackled the highest one 1st. Funny thing the weekend of your trip my wife and I hiked up to Algonquin down to Colden then out through Avalanche. Camping at Colden was nice but it was crowded we had a hard time finding a spot.

Thanks Dragon! We must have just missed each other by a few hours on the first day. And I went the opposite way around and didn't get to Colden until day 3, and it was fairly empty by then and I hardly saw anyone on trail after that. Wouldn't it have been funny if we had crossed paths out there?

Another great advanture. I was hoping you would do this trip. I did overnight hike to Giant Mt a month ago. A tough hike. Mt Marcy is on my list next year as soon as weather gets warmer.

Great video! I think that suspension bridge was my least favorite section of trail that I hiked this year, haha.

Yeah, it's been on my list for awhile as well. I finally made it up there, and it was well worth the trip. Would recommend!

Awesome video. I'm surprised it got down to 42 F at night. Going in third week of August (2024). Looks like drinking water is fairly easy to come upon throughout the area?

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Water was not a problem (except for muddy trails and sketchy water crossings), but yes it got chilly at night, and no campfires allowed. But still absolutely worth it!

I had been wanting to change the name for a long time. I think the old name sounded too "sci-fi" considering the type of content. LOL. I think this name is more fitting for the type of videos I want to make.

Did you encounter the snotty booger section climbing up Algonquin? We slide down a booger river about 20 feet.

You would have climbed up the booger area..we slid down it. It was approximately knee deep.

Most of this video was shot using a DJI Pocket 2 camera, and a few extra shots were done with an Insta360 ONE X2 camera. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks! The main camera is a DJI Pocket 2, with a few shots from an Insta360 One X2. The external mic is a pair of Roland CS-10EM binaural headphones, and I'm using a Zoom H1 audio recorder set for wave audio. Editing is DaVinci Resolve and I use Google Earth Pro for the maps.

And I really enjoy how your video came across as more about the trail, and less about you (if that makes sense). Those were some STEEP incline/declines! You've definitely inspired me to get my a$$ to the Adirondacks! I believe you said you're from the Philly area - I'm not that far from you - Hunterdon County, NJ. Have you ever hiked in the Pine Barrens? Not as "fun" with zero elevation and rock scrambling, but seriously beautiful (just don't go in the height of summer). I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos - and more inspiration.

Is it true that they don't accept 'BearVault' canisters up there?

Yep it's true. They ask you specifically about it when you pay for your parking. Not just if you have a canister, but which kind you have. They claim the bears have learned how to open the clear blue canisters with the twist-off tops. They only accept the kind with the locking screws, and it's the only kind they sell or rent at the High Peaks Information Center. I ordered my canister online ahead of time so it wasn't an issue for me. I would recommend buying one before you go so you can take your time to figuring out how you're going to pack it, rather than repacking everything at the trailhead. Mine is from Backpacker's Cache.
