I took my first ever cab ride at Mt. Rainier on Polson Logging 70 in the Summer of 2011. At that time the trains didn't run to the shop complex at Mineral, but ran around a balloon loop at Mineral Lake and returned to Elbe. After my ride I drove to the shops at Mineral to get a look at the geared locomotives and I was given a quick tour by Stathi Pappas. Looking forward to going back someday soon to check out the museum at Mineral. As for favorite geared locomotive, I'd have to say the Willamette, since it was built in Oregon, the state I now call home, and it inspired Lima to build the Pacific Coast Shay and similar improvements from Heisler and Climax.

It would be nice to see shay 11, mike # 5, Heisler 10, and 91 returned to service along with climax 10

I have ridden on the mt Rainer scenic railroad 3 times and really enjoyed it. They have a lot of old logging equipment that will please anyone who is into logging railroads. My favorite logging locomotive is Polson logging company Mikado 70.

I am so happy to hear that the Mount Rainier scenic route is coming back. Hopefully we’re gonna see various steam engines return to service. Some that haven’t run in a long time such as Pickering lumber company Lima Pacific Coast Shay number 11 or one that might be a longshot HK Porter mikado number five back when Jack Anderson was the railroads chief master mechanic before he passed away. That was his favorite engine.

5 would need a new boiler or new boiler course I believe. Crystal lines were found near the backhead

Not a mistake, sounds like they can't feasibly run it this year.
