Is that what those big silver 2- storey trains are called? I am quite nostalgic for them now - I used to travel Sydney to Newcastle frequently on them (and once to the Blue Mountains!) in the late 80s and early 90s. Would this be the same kind of train, or have they been updated? Looks the same to me. I live in Melbourne now, we don't have trains like this, they're so cool! Nice video! ✌😁

The v sets external have remained the same. Interior has obviously been through some improvements. And they still run the Newcastle and Blue Mountains lines. There are in the process of getting new trains to run these lines but have run into problems with clearances with the tunnels alone the Blue Mountains line.

If this the actual public authority making these videos, thank you for making these available. Cab ride videos have become a serious thing now, and they really are a great way to see parts of the world in a way that not many people do 👍

Thankyou... I don't usually leave comments on vids, but I just wanted to say thankyou. I've been waiting for years to watch these videos. My uncle drove the XPT while I was growing up, and I would always get to set up the front with him. These videos bring back so many fond memories. 👍 🚂🚃🚃🚃

What a beautiful morning as the train is leaving the yard at Mt Vic. Blue and pink sky's. The view of the Kanimbla Valley between Mt Vic station and Blackheath station is spectacular and something you just cant see from the angle of the camera in this clip. Viewers would have loved that. Ive lived in the Blue Mts for over 40 years and infact, my father was a goods train driver and also did runs between Lithgow and Enfield. I went with him a couple of times as a small boy but im going back to the late 70's when that happened. My guess would have been 42 class loco's ?? I remember going on a 46 class way back then with him and the sound of the pantograph going up to touch the overheads was so cool by itself. Arhhh Trains have changed a lot since then. 2 thumbs up for the vid clips.

Thanks . Have watched a few Brit ones on trips into London. Their trains have a buzzer thing that sounds about every 30 secs, which might be a driver safety thing. And the other thing on British lines is the numbered signposts along the way ( speed limit ?). None on this line that I noticed. Thanks for posting.

Is there any chance of the XPT journey from Lithgow to Dubbo, or Dubbo to Lithgow..??? There is already plenty of video's around Sydney and outer suburbs. I would love to see more regional/rural areas from the view of the train cab (realtime).

Great video. Been watching many driver's eye view videos, lately (mostly from the UK and Switzerland). One observation - I've noticed not all signals are fitted with train stops. Is that common in the electrified network outside of the Sydney metro area?

What's that Bell every time the train moves? Here in the USA, our commuter rails ring the bell when entering and departing the station. I'm wondering if that's what this is?

@@233CFH A train guard in Australia is pretty much the equivalent of an American conductor, except our train guards usually don’t ever walk up and down the train, they just stay in the guard’s compartment.

@28102650
@28102650 3 жыл бұрын
I can’t answer the question about the number of stations. But I can tell you that there are a few of them that I know on the southern line past Wagga Wagga. When travelling on the XPT, the train crew will announce that only certain doors will be open at such and such a station. You arrive at the station and look out, but there’s no platform! I seem to remember that there are some stations on the line between the Hawkesbury River and Gosford which have short platforms. Other people are sure to have more information for you.
@aussiejohn5835
@aussiejohn5835 3 жыл бұрын
There are more than you would think and they are on every line. We even have platforms that only cater for one door ( front or rear) on any train. These one door platforms are usually request only which means you must inform the guard when wanting to alight and wave vigorously to the driver when wanting to board the train. Great for locals but confusing as hell for visitors.
