The initial plan was to do Mount Galwey North Summit - approaching from the South Summit - but abandoned the idea due to an unfavorable weather forecast. Mount Whyte and Mount Niblock had been on my radar anyway, so we decided to head up there despite the smoke from the wildfire in BC.
Because of the difficult rating on the mountain by Alan Kane, we decided to do Mount Whyte first and use most of our energy in safely summiting the mountain and get back to the col. Besides from the video we saw from Harlan Fox's KZfaq, Mount Niblock did not seem so bad. It is rated moderate but not too bad.
Huge credits to Haran Fox for his useful information about the route and trail on Mount Niblock and to Explor8ion's GPX that we used as reference on Whyte. We mostly followed the cairns but having a GPX to refer to gave us the extra assurance we are on the right track. Mount Whyte is a mountain you could not afford to get off route due to tons of exposure.
Due to smoke, my video quality is worse LOL so if there is anyone looking for a clear video, I recommend checking out Harlan's video • Mt. Niblock Scramble (...
