I don't think Loam exists here in Colorado :( Just sand, it's coarse, rough, irritating, and gets everywhere.

I've never seen loam in California, either. All I see is clay, either hard packed or turned to dust and spread over every part of my bike.

@@Acceleronics Maybe Nor Cal? Def not dry as hell So Cal. If you don't care for loose over hard pack then Cali is not your thing. I think I've seen loam once but that was at a bike park in a specific turn. 😀

I have always seen that you are NOT supposed to wear underwear with chamios, however you are supposed to use cream when wearing this way. I have found that if I wear boxer briefs with chamois I do not have any issues with chaffing and I do not need to use any creams.. Been riding this way for 20+ years without issues. I know technically this is wrong but thought I would share.

One term for a trail I’ve heard is “old school XC”. It was described to me as a trail which is very skinny with little to no flow and no specific climbing or defending sections but is constantly undulating

Yes! When we was yunglings, most of our trails were poached from livestock and the granola chomper set, and we set our bikes up accordingly!

You should just ditch the chamois and ride often enough that your body becomes conditioned. I haven’t worn one for a decade or more because I find them uncomfortable while off the bike and unnecessary while on it

Talking about loam. You suggest like there are no rules in the UK forests and encourage everyone to go to a loamy hill and just start making your own trails. Here in the Netherlands or Germany this is strictly forbidden. Is this indeed legal in the UK?

Not really allowed. Most trail builds outside bike parks are illegal unless permission is granted. And trespassing law's still apply!

Nope. Roost is the after effect from railing a corner, doing a cutty/ shralping etc. It's just the act of throwing up a load of dust/dirt.

Rear mech and derailleur, yes. Rear shifter is the thing on your bars that initiates the gear change (on your rear cassette).
