You have a great point, why did trails get easier, when bikes became better? Back in the day of 36 lbs bikes, with no suspension and rim brakes, we could rip those rocky hiking trails.

Coming from someone who started MTB in the late 80's in the PNW, everything about modern bikes is amazing!!! So much more fun factor. The down side of the sport IMO are the groomed, machine built trails. It's like riding down a sidewalk with berms. I know jump lines are their own thing but I think whistler has a good mix of natural terrain, and park style trails. But honestly, I have almost entirely switched to moto, haha. Modern 2 strokes are so sick! Braaaaaaap!

@@peterk7662 Not at all but I think it is downward trend int MTB. The PNW still has tons of hand built trails that are amazing, just many, many more people on them. The moto community is super supportive and cool which is a different vibe thatn the modern MTB scene. It's more of a, "no man left behind" attituede. Have you tried moto? It's super fun if you haven't.
