I didn't realise the documentary was on KZfaq! Im very thankful to the rescue services for pulling out the stops and getting us all down, Steve, Antony and I all suffered different injuries, but we still love the outdoors! Im still climbing internationally and loving every moment...

The human will and mind power can be unreal! Anthony's love, care and respect for his fellow climber is endless. My respect for this MAN is giant! Anthony you are a hero !

Definitely lucky... but the frostbite is scary... nobody is going to catch me trying to climb up a mountain... it’s dangerous enough for me on level ground..

You won't see better performances by the entertainers in Hollywood that get paid millions to do similar material. I noticed that this is a common sentiment under these videos. These actors draw you in, make the actual people relatable to us.

How weird, I’m clicking through recommended vids and come across this, watching it and realise my cousin is one of the reenactment actors (Anthony) ...small world?! 😄

Having had a one year old grandchild recently lose her foot and toes to meningococcal, I was in awe seeing Steve run at the end I'm almost in tears, knowing how much of a challenge it is to recover from loss of limb. Seeing those end shots gave me hope that one day my granddaughter might also run again. I'm so glad these men made it out alive and shared their stories.

refreshing to see one of these stories where none of them grew resentful or started putting the blame on anyone. these three men stuck together and overcame this horrible time. and even now they’re still friends and want to continue going on adventures together, we love to see it.

Truly one of the most inspirational stories I have seen. In dark, lonely and pain-filled nights I will envision these boys struggling and overcoming!. I am in awe. Thank you.

I binge watch these documentaries. The film making is really great. The actors are powerful. I’m glad these people survived.

The obsession of mountain climbing is something I will never ever understand.

This show seems like they go thru a lot of filming & trouble just to make 45 min vids, from helicopters to filming at actual mountains, oceans, jungles or so it seems like it, & the actors are top notch! Makes me think abt all they go thru behind the scenes lol

🤔I’ve noticed that a lot of times when “tragedy” or “bad luck” strikes, it’s because the people took a “more difficult, less traveled route” or they disregard weather warnings altogether....it’s usually some sort of deviation from the normal routine....no matter how slight that causes a number of catastrophic occurrences to then take place putting their lives at risk. It’s absolutely crazy😅

Steve is a true mountaineer. Those folks are incredibly driven, tough, and danged near unbreakable - although McKinley certainly tried to break these three men. What an inspiring story!

What an amazing story! The sheer will to live amid such dire and bleak circumstances is astounding. The decision to go out on his own to find help for him and his friends and continuing that endeavor with broken legs is heroic. Afterwards, even though Steve is disabled, he continues on with his life and does more things than I even do. I'm sure it was so easy to fall into depression over the situation but heis thriving. This is such an inspiring and uplifting story! I will remember the will of these men when life gets me down at tiimes and I find myself in a depression. Massive respect for Antony. I have huge respect for Steve and Nigel as well as their sheer will to survive in -30 degree weather is in itself, heroic.

After watching over a dozen of these I can see how huge a simple Mylar space blanket would help in almost every situation from conserving body heat, shelter, water collection and signaling for help.

Grown men decide to play on a mountain, then need to call others to risk their lives in order to save them.

“Steve has fallen about 1100 feet” .... well he wanted to get down fast... that he did. That Steve is one rough dude.

They literally took the least amount of precautions and the most amount of risks. If it wasn't for wise Nigel they would have been all dead.

nothing personal, but i wont want a friend like him. He almost died at night, forces you to keep him warm so he doesnt die. And in the morning he wants to continue... like bro

Steve Ball surviving the night of being in open exposure as he was is amazing. I hate thinking about the physical and mental pain he was feeling as he was essentially waiting for death. It must’ve felt hopeless

I hope and pray that that guy does not feel guilty for getting frostbitten for keeping his friends from going to the top he should not feel guilty about that they made the right decision to go back

Thank you for sharing your extreme examples of survival while caring for each other. And how you dealt with your damaged bodies afterwards is truly inspiration to everyone like me who needs a dose of courage.

What kind of sport that warrants hypothermia is considered fun???? I’d never in a million years take part in a sport as dangerous and tedious as this one....

I don't know how they do it, lose body parts and still have that desire to go back. I can't even cope with temps below 15°C/59°F! I've never lived in snowy conditions in Australia and everytime I watch these types of stories or movies I shudder at the thought of freezing to death.

How in God's name could you even think about climbing another mountain after all that???

I don't understand how people think that climbing on a mountain with snow could be fun 😑 I am jus glad that they all survived.

The rescue teams hats of to them brave men and women that put themselves in danger to help others in such difficult.

I wonder how to get interviewed for this show. I have a harrowing story to share. My car broke down on the side of the road and to make matters worse, my phone was dead. I had to walk nearly a mile to nearest gas station. I realized I forgot my wallet back at the car... If y'all want the ending to this story, contact me.

Lessons learned, don't climb a mountain, don't wander around the grand canyon, a desert, or the outback, don't go into bear country, don't get on a helicopter, don't swim in the ocean, don't take a small boat out onto the ocean, don't get into a single engine aircraft, and don't go off a trail in a forest in the middle of nowhere. Your chances for survival just increased significantly! You'll thank me later in your old age.

When I tell you I'm obsessed with this show I found this series yesterday and this is like my 5th video in a row

This teaches me to stay calm, stick together, and follow normal course of action/ routine, and be aware of when I have reached my limits and need to go back and try again next time. Be prepared. All easier said then done though.

wow seeing this makes me actually understand what an unbelievable climber and superhuman Reinhold Messner was to climb all this mountains alone and without oxygen.

It is an addiction, like any other: You can't stop doing something, even if it hurts you, physically, and creates tensions and worries in the family. Assume these guys have weighed all of that and concluded they can't live without climbing, their drug of choice.

I was happy to see that they all three not only survived, but they still get after life and adventure. I also couldn't get over how much I think that the real life Steve Ball looks an awful lot like Christian Bale, especially when he smiles.

To some people these mountains are apparently irresistable, even when it can cost you your life, or limbs or face. To them it is worth all that. I don't look down on that at all, but I also don't look up to what they achieve. It is avoidable danger. To me it seem a strange calling.

This is the most incredible survival story yet! The fact they all 3 made it out is almost unbelievable 😳

I am really glad that Steve lived, especially after his reaction to his friends calling for a rescue for him, but he was not thakfull that they chose his life rather than summiting

You all three are crazy people, Humanitarian climbers, bestest soul and friends. This kind of friendship are rare these days. Keep travelling and take care of yourself.

All these guys are absolute rocks. Suffering on a scale only a few ever know yet their will to survive is the reason they are now able to tell their story.

A beautifully told and quite engaging story. I thought for sure until the very end that one of them had died. But amazingly not so!! Guess if it had been Everest they would not have gotten to Steve in time. A salute to all of you for surviving as well as to your great friendship.

I start whining if it goes below 70 degrees in my house. And there goes Steve running by with no fingers, a missing hand, leg & a half foot. I learned two things from this: 1) I'm a p****. 2) I REALLY don't have anything to complain about!

Its like the 3 stooges go camping, then it turns so very dark...

the minute I saw clouds and the wind speed pick up, I'd have gone back down and waited out the storm and avalanches. That mountain is going to be there. Most every one of these disaster scenarios are a result of negligence or underestimating the force of nature. Never leave your communication means behind for any reason.

These men are true soldiers going though all that suffering at that altitude getting hyperthermia, frost bite, one of them falling 1100 feet and shattering bones and they all helped each other and survived big respect to them

Everything is cool on this Series...the graphic and sound effects...and the re-enactments sound real.

After losing all his fingers, his right foot and left leg and after getting rescued from the claws of death, he can't wait to do it all over again. And for what, the bragging rights of having reached the top of a mountain?

Like the saying, " if you play with fire, sometimes you get burned." If you climb mountains, do dangerous hobbies, sometimes it doesn't end well.

Not a single thanks or even mentioning the pilot who agreed to try the highest mountain rescue flight ever attempted, which resulted in rescuing both of them

I'm so clumsy that I just know I wouldn't be able to do anything like this. I would probably trip over a tiny pebble and that would be the end. Sadly my kids have also inherited my clumsiness. My son is 12 and he is constantly tripping over his own feet.

I love watching these as I stretch out on my couch 😊

Some ppls will to live is incredible. I'm pretty sure I'd die within the first 24 hours of any of these stories

What an incredible bunch of guys. Steve doing all those activity still and his mates. And I can't find a teenager who can do two hours gardening work without saying " I'm done my backs hurting" far play these men deserve to be alive they obviously love life and make the most of it. Incredible. Well done guys!!!!!

They should of turned around once they reached that football field then hiked back the next day and set up a new base camp at 18,000 ft and then tackle the last 2000 ft the next day. Easy for me to say but that would of been a much safer plan going on after that point in those winds was almost suicidal. To Steve's credit he did find the quickest way down the mountain.

Brutal!! As a solo alpine mountaineer this is terrifying. Takes 1 second or 1 little mistake between life and death.

I have never understood the drive people have to climb these mountains .. they KNOW it's dangerous and deadly. I would never. I don't see any sort of benefit to doing such things.

I've seen this episode a few times now and every time I watch what these three men go through I just can't imagine the pain and agony they endure the pure will power of just knowing that I just have to keep going untill I can't is truly amazing

There often is a bully/dominant character involved somewhere who the others are afraid to stand up to and let that person put them in danger against their better instinct. Should have told him to take a running hike with himself. These type of people need to be put back in their box.

The goal is to summit and get the photographs. I do mountaineering to enjoy the environment, because I enjoy the mountain, summiting for the wrong reasons invites wrong consequences.

What makes these documentaries so amazing is the top quality music. It is so effectively used.
