Dachstein Glacier is a glacier located above the town of Ramsau am Dachstein in Austria. Snow is at the top of the glacier throughout the year. However snow is soft in summer. This mountain is located south of Salzburg. The train stops at Schladming and from there is a bus to the village below the Dachstein Mountains.
Base elevation: 2,057 m
Top elevation: 2,700 m
Lift system: 5 total (1 Cable Car, 1 Double Seat chairlift, 3 Tow Lifts)

very nice content. is there any other way to go up than the chairlift? i think I can ride the cable car but not the chairlift. i have phobia. we are visiting in July and my kids are excited to see snow for the first time in their lives.

Thank you. No worries, in Ramsau Dachstein Glacier they only have cable car " Panorama Gondolas" and they dont use chair lift when going up. Gondola is built entirely of glass where you can enjoy the whole view going up. The one we rode is with an open air space/ balcony. And I can say that it is really safe and you need not to worry. Ramsau Dachstein is really beautiful! Have a safe and wonderful time in your coming vacation. For more information you can visit their website : www.schladming-dachstein.at

It is convenient to book the Gondola tickets in advance or you can ask in the hotel where you stay to help you book the tickets. There are lots of people going up in summer and it is also convenient to go up early in the morning where there are still few people going up.

Hi, you have 3 best option to go there from Salzburg. 1. Take the train from Salzburg HBF then get off at the Schladming Station. We stayed in Schladming central town area, an booked our cable car tickets direct at the reception. 2. By bus: take Salzburg Verkehr Gmbh bus from Salzburg Rathaus Station, then get off at the Radstadt Postamt Station then take the ÖBB Post Bus from Radstadt Postamt Station to Schladming Krankenhaus Station. 3. By car: if you have Navi it easier to just put the address of the the hotel where you staying at . Ill check for another option and get back to you later. I hope this help. 😊
