Just pulled up John L.McCaskey up on Ancestry and found a newspaper article if anyone is interested. At the age of 25, he became the proprietor of the local newspaper in that area; the Duncannon Record. After running it for 6 years, he stepped down to pursue other things, but remained involved with the paper for life. His bio in the Duncannon Record when he died said that - besides a newspaper man, he was "a writer, an educator, a philosopher, a speaker, an economist, and an idealist." It says he had a love of nature, and especially of Perry County, and that he formulated the plan to erect a forest playground amidst the towering Hemlocks of Upper Perry to be used as a State Park. The article goes on to talk about his work with Thomas Edison (the inventor) but I'm not sure how much I can type on here before it gets cut off?

It is very evident that John McCaskey loved his wife dearly judging by the very beautiful and elaborate head stone design. Thanks for sharing 👍👍

There is a back side to the tunnel trail reached best during cooler weather so as to avoid unpleasant encounters, where they also were working to open up the mountain into the valley of timber there.

The entire trail has a sense of serenity. It would be lovely place to spend a few hours, praying, thinking reading or just doing nothing but relaxing.

from Wikipaedia-Easter Road is a football stadium located in the Leith area of Edinburgh, Scotland, which is the home ground of Scottish Premiership club Hibernian (Hibs). The stadium currently has an all-seated capacity of 20,421, which makes it the fifth-largest football stadium in Scotland. Easter Road is also known by Hibs fans as "The Holy Ground".

McCaskey is a Scottish name and Easter Road is a main road in Edinburgh. It could be a reference to that. Like the Easter Road in Heaven maybe?

There was a log book in the container. We signed it along with others who had visited recently. Log book dates went back to 2014. It is a nice trail and that cool breeze was there 7/26 in 95 degree weather.

Tuscarora mnts is where a young schoolgirl named peggy ann bradnick was kidnapped by a mountain man in the 60s. Interesting story and a lifetime movie was made. Even a song called the 8 days of shade gap! A fbi agent was even killed among the hunt. Very interesting!!!

Trail was just peaceful and serene. What an absolutely beautiful place to rest. Think maybe the Easter road means something like she is walking with Jesus now like when he resurrected on Easter Sunday. Just my thoughts. If anyone knows please share. Loved this Cliff! 🥰

What a lovely area. The atmosphere was serene the peace was just beautiful. I wonder if that sentence was referring to Christ rising and going to heaven and she is following. Just a thought. I love to see the graves they are beautiful. Thanks so much for taking me along. Please stay safe

I posted earlier on here about their newspaper obituaries & I just thought of a way to share them! If any of you are familiar with the 'Find a Grave' website, someone posted the McCaskey graves on their back in 2012. I just now added the newspaper articles to each of their graves they posted. If you want to read about their lives, just pull up 'Find a Grave' and where you search for graves, look for where you type in the "Memorial ID". John's Memorial ID is: 100080810 .. From his memorial, you'll see Clara and you can just click on her. P.S. to Basshead & Little Paw who were wondering about how they got their graves up there. On Clara's bio, it says that 17 soldiers took her grave up!! 😵 Interesting stuff! 👍🏻
@bearpawz_
@bearpawz_ 4 жыл бұрын
p.s.... Clara's bio is four pages long. 😵 The first two show up on the memorial, and you click on "see two more" to see the last two pages.
