If you saw this video on another site, please leave a message below to let me know. I'm thrilled it's being shared around and would like to know where everyone is seeing it.
Welcome to viewers from Model Railroad Hobbyist. I was thrilled to see my video shared in the December 1015 issue. I have several WMSR videos on my channel for your enjoyment. EDIT: It was the December 2015, not 1015, which would have been quite a feat!
And thank you to trainfanatics.com for sharing my video on their website and facebook page. I hope everyone enjoys it. It is one of my favorite videos from the WMSR.
Railroads run in all types of weather, from a beautiful spring day to pounding snow. Western Maryland 734 pulls a mixed freight over the Allegheny Mountains on a January 30, 2010, photo freight sponsored by Carl Franz.
The train is seen at a variety of locations along the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, including the famous Helmstetters Curve. Hear the whistle echo through the mountains and feel the earth shake as the finest tourist railroad on the East Coast puts on an incredible show.
In one week, the entire region will be blanketed by the worst blizzard in 50 years, but the fresh falling snow on this day resulted in some spectacular winter vistas.

The whistle echo here is absolutely chilling. In the best way, there are few things powerful enough to reverb that far and that long and I’ll tell ya what, a steam locos whistle is definitely one of them.

this is breathtaking, i love that opening scene with all that snow and the lone headlight 1:14 looks like something from The Polar Express!

There is just nothing more beautiful than a steam locomotive running in the snow. This is just absolutely phenomenal. We don't get to see this as often as we'd like to (at least I don't). Plus, I love the sound of #734's Hancock long bell 3 chime. This is, without a doubt, one of the best videos, if not the best video, of a steam locomotive in the snow. Congratulations on making such a good video. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up from me. This video deserves nothing less.

Just outstanding! This brings chills down my spine to hear a beautiful Hancock 3 chime, a 2-8-0 hard at work putting a photo charter, and to do it in blizzard? Jaw-dropping with anxiety.

Woah, ok, this may seem weird for me to say here but, at 1:00 for some odd reason, it reminds me so much of the scene from The Polar Express, when the train stops in front of the kids home in the snow. But other then that, I like the video and snow in the back ground and stuffs :)

This video left me speechless and in sheer awe. It's breathtaking and inspiring and rather heart breaking in that I wish I was born 80 years earlier to witness this; steam at it's finest, not as a once-in-a-while tourist attraction. This video is truly a work of art; there are not enough superlatives to describe it. Congratulations!

Thank you for this upload; it's probably the most introspective and beautiful I've seen to date. Goosebumps abound! I was raised in SE Ohio (coal country), where the terrain looks very similar to this; and since I was born in 1942, I'm old enough to very easily recall these old steamers!

If you watch this video from the start, sound turned down slightly with the music of this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbapaJBpxpbOhZc.htmlm3s playing in the background at full volume, it's perfect. Might need to skip ahead from 1:40 to 2:58 for the slight lapse in action between scenes so it will stay consistent to the music, but otherwise I think it matches beautifully.

Hey jason! My name is j.o.perron, I'm a musician and film maker. I'm working on a music video and have been using small bits of your video (manipulated) as background for the greened screened musicians and complement some inside shots I got. We are an unsigned band, I do not have a budget, it is 100% homegrown and this not made for profit . it's a surreal funk music video for a band called "hokumfactory". I will obviously credit you for the footage and link to your website (if you want). let me know if it's ok with you. I wanted to reach out! best!
