We go camping for 3 nights in the Mountain Zebra National Park just outside Cradock in the Eastern Cape.
Exciting 4x4 trails, Mountain Zebra, Red Hartebees, Buffalo - but did we manage to find that male Lion that was eluding us?

Was in MZNP in December with my wife. Did the same 4x4 loop and stopped at the same "beware of (elusive) lions" signage. Will be back for a cheetah outing on 6th April. We stayed at the Vic hotel (am related to owners) in Cradock.

Also did the Juriesdam 4x4 (December 23) via my trusty Mahindra Scorpio - low range was needed to get to the top of the escarpment.

Yip, I was pleasantly surprised at how technical some of the parks 4x4 routes are. It makes a nice change to the other 4x4 routes of the other bigger parks. I always engaged low range on the trails, just some much easier to climb slowly and causes less environmental damage due to less wheel spin.

@robinboyes8749 On the main road that leads from the gate to the reception. If you are entering the park they will be on your left hand side not too far before the gravel becomes tar (right hand side if driving towards the exit).
