So true. Except for the climbing gear, the cross-over gear is exactly what I use for winter camping, too.

you are the most effervescently interesting mountaineer I've ever seen. I'd pretty much figured that in the first 10 minutes. But then you start dropping these bombs like that you climb solo and I was like "wow... is there anything this guy can't do". I'm sure you receive a lot of praise, so I'll say something short from the bottom of my heart: people like you are why I love backpacking and life in general. it's a heavy thing to write in a youtube comment, I know, but it's the truth and you should know. Wishing you the best!

I climbed Denali 2016, after I got out of Spec Ops. I was in tremendous shape but I wasn't the most skilled climber. I remember Napoleons famous comment all the way to the top I fear no man...Only weather. That is so true when trying to summit peaks. Thanks for a great video.

Great rapid fire video with a lot of helpful information for each piece of kit! One of the things it has me wondering, is how you manage crevasse risk traveling alone, do you find that difficult?

Thanks. Great stuff. Re skis, I tried out some (Altai) Hok skis this Winter. 140cm, bonded skin section, universal boot binding. Skishoeing vs snowshoeing. With the load in the sled, not on my back, they worked well.

Great stove ideas! THAT is a LOT of stuff! Holy cow!!!! You sound like you caught a cold. Dang! How do you find what you need in all that stuff? Gees. And when you live in Alaska year-round, you can't live anywhere else without wearing the eye mask all year long because you get used to the pure darkness, well, if you live in a remote community with no street lights. Haha - One more time, THAT is A LOT of stuff!!!

Awesome!!! I just ordered your books Have you tried the Mountain Hardwear AMG 105 liter pack? Carries like its super light even though its not. My shovel and crampons and ice axe do not even mar it. Really padded hip belt and shoulder straps. I'm a fan of Merino undies as well. Love the idea of using a headband to protect your nose! I live in Alaska. I backpack all year around. Thank you for so much great info.

Hello Aaron first of all I want to thank you the knowledge you have shared probably saved my life a few times. Secondly I having spent alot of time outdoors and during that time I found that I always wanted a good chair. Well I had an idea to make a backpack frame/chair out of some light material. When the plans are done would you be interested?
@ALinsdau

That'd be cool to check out when you're done & ready to share. I used this as my seat, extra insulation for sitting, and expanded tent coverage. It's great for hiking, as it's so light. Therm-a-Rest Z Seat Cushion: amzn.to/3vRD1wf

Hey Al, great video. I bought a western mountaineering sleeping bag based on your advice and absolutely love it! One question though: do you have any issues with the down staying compressed after you take it out of the sack? Mine was compressed for maybe 2 or 3 days during transit and lost a heap of its warmth as a result (it was an antelope bag). I know you can put it in the dryer to fix that but not sure how you manage on expeditions? Thanks
@ALinsdau
@ALinsdau Жыл бұрын
Make sure your bag is as dry as possible before stuffing it. If it's moist, it'll stay compressed a lot longer.

No sleeping bag cover or inner layer this time? When you pack them. Is it better to pack them individually or I can set them (sleeping bag with liner and cover and pack them inside a compression bag for a quick deployment? Thank you! And love your vids!

After experiencing a serious spinal injury in 2012, I have resumed training for a Denali climb...yep, solo. Of all the crap you went through in this video I was interested in one thing and one thing only: your personal sled. As you recommended I went to your website to see your complete gear list so I could see which make/model you use. Guess what? You list every single item including Vaseline, but you don't say a word about your sled. Thumb down!

Glad to hear you're on your way to recovery! Thanks for pointing out the missing sled. I'm working on my Greenland expedition series playlist kzfaq.info/sun/PLG18s0YH507CljLZSkn4X_fbodXXVUj8H It will include the sled. The sled is on my Greenland page: www.aaronlinsdau.com/greenland/ I've updated my solo Denali gear page for the Paris Expedition Sled: www.aaronlinsdau.com/solo-denali-gear-list/ Be safe climbing Denali solo!
