I am sure you have run into this before. Doing a full rewire of the home we purchased 3 years ago...Panel was a nightmare, but got that done up and passed inspection, so that went well. As I am replacing outlets on the branches, the 1958 era method was used; the contractor would strip the wires back about 1/4 inch and then put it next to the screw and tighten it down. 😱 😱 No hooks were made. I got a chill down my spine when I realized I was plugging things in to these outlets. 12 AWG in the entire house with all 15 amp outlets, which is not huge, but if you have 12 gauge and spent the money on the wire, don't get why they would not just put in the 20amp outlets...🤔

I can see where that would be very nerve-racking, I would have definitely fixed all that immediately once I saw one. And you can put the 15s on the 12 gauge wire for sure as long as there's more than one receptacle. Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you got your house in order. Have a great weekend
