Gill seemed to be a good person hearing you talk about him you can tell he meant a lot to you as I’m sure he did his family. Keep up the good work there are lots of young people that could stand to learn a few things from you this day and time.

Yep, the first load of the season is always a reminder that I'm not in wood cutting shape. Lol. Hope Gills family is doing good. Always a pleasure watching your wood cutting vids. My wife is in bad shape so this is as close to the woods as I can get. Thanks buddy.

Hello gills family I’m headed back out took 1.5 years off from cutting wood seen couple old customers when I was coming in with a load said they didn’t like the guy last year they got wood from so figured might as well make it another side job best job a guy could have but not enough buyers in central Oregon to do it for a living or I would 👌🏽 have a blessed day 👌🏽

The market is saturated down here in Klamath. Most guys selling burned Ponderosa pine as Lodge Pole. Good trees are too far out to keep the price of a cord fairly reasonable.

It sounds like Gil was a pretty incredible. Sounds like he was a pretty good mentor to you and your family. That is awesome that you took a moment to meet your wing-like that at his age and still cutting firewood. That is impressive man there and a hard work in son of a b**** I tell you my hats off to that guy. I have never met him before, but he seems like a really good. Woodcutter guy woodcutters are honest people. Please please reply back if you get this message.Thank you sincerely would cutter anthony

David, I thought that you were going away from those axes and maul’s that didn’t have real wooden handles. Was I somehow mistaken?
@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie3 ай бұрын
No you are not mistaken I thought it was the handles but I found I was running my hand all the way down on the hook of the handle and it was cause a lot of jolt to my shoulders just trying to choke up a bit on the axe

RIP Gil. I was just going to ask if you had any small saws that you used for limbing. Guess I found out. Would be interested to know the time difference between bucking with the 550 vs the 395. How much quicker is it. May give me more reason to buy a larger saw from my 555.

Do you know what the white fungus/balls are on the fir trees are called? That’s about the best way I can judge good wood out here other than taking an axe thru the bark or If the end of the limbs still have an upward curl. You cut a lot of trees i would consider rotten here in southern Oregon, but the burn scar I cut around is from 2018. Curious if you have other ways of judging quality before cutting them down

Any more thoughts an about the 500i? In a previous video you mentioned you might upgrade. I’m in a similar boat and would love to hear your thoughts. I do similar cutting style down here near Leavenworth.

I think I may try one and use it strictly for falling tree
