It is a very exciting period, isn't it? Richard Lionheart, Robin Hood, John the Bad, the Third Crusade, Phillip II, Battle of Bouvines, Albigensian Crusade...Ivanhoe, if you want to bring later literature into it. Really the epitome of the High Middle Ages. Do you have Phillip II? I've been looking at him on the catalogue and he seems very short in the torso to me, from the pictures. I'd like to find out if he really is or it's just the photographic angle, before I buy him.

The figures, at least to me, look far better than the foot knights. Canny lads. Beautifully painted. I fight the 2nd Barons War not the first. I still find it odd that one falls into fighting periods, or they fall into you, that one never quite had the intention of essaying. For decades I have always wanted to fight the Russian Civil War. Never happened for whatever reason. They should put that on my gravestone. Here lies an unfortunate medievalist and he is still grumpy. I am old enough to have studied the period at university, mostly early fourteenth century. We used to spell it mediaevalist but lost a vowel along the way. I don't approve of that kind of thing. She, the wife, doesn't read your site otherwise I am justifiably dead. Personally I never understood women who never collected medievals. We are unfortunately likely to marry them. Personally I think itbis an unfortunate trick of fate or women. She is red haired and very dangerous. You'd think perfect for an indifferent set of medieval rules.
