Mounting GMRS Ghost Antenna to Your Load Bar on Your Roof Rack

3 жыл бұрынIn this quick video, we are mounting a Midland Ghost Antenna to our roof rack. This new mount we made will allow you to mount any GMRS antenna to your roof rack that uses a 2x1 load bar.

Antenna needs to be above that hard case if it’s only going to broadcast and receive in more than one direction. Current config kinda makes the omnidirectional antenna pointless.

Well the antenna will work in the position you have mounted in it will not be very optimal. The antenna should be mounted above obstacles. Those containers on top of your load rack is blocking the antenna.

Did you use the included black spacer that came with the cable at the NMO connector end or no? I didn’t use the spacer so that the ghost antenna sits flush with the mount. Installed mine exactly how you did with the mount and all. Can’t figure out why my receive transmission signals are weaker compared to the stock antenna. With all variables constant too

That is very strange, I would try to use the antenna without the mount and see if it's any better. That should cancel out the mount interfering or not at the least.

question,,,Toyota Engineers state that a 5th gen 4runner roof can only support 120 lbs static or dynamic weight, 20% less with sunroof...roof rack, awning, roof top tent tent, solar panel and 2 adults in tent is more than 500 lbs. what am i missing??? have a 2019 TRD off road and cant seem to find any info...thanks

You’ll be fine, it’s a Toyota! 😂 But, in all seriousness, you should be fine with everything you listed (expect for the 2 people) mounted on a quality roof rack

What your missing is weight distribution, reasonably doing so can increase that .

@@jzila9900 unless you are drilling more mounting points in roof, which isnt recommended, you are still only using the 4 factory mounting points. thats not weight distribution...

What kind of radio did u put in the truck? Can u use that kind of antenna with like a cb radio?

The antenna is a UHF antenna. CB antennas are HF and require a much longer length of coils and whip. UHF just needs about 6 inches where as CB would need about 102 inches.
