Here's a "Commonwealth" TV version of MOUSE'S TALE from Paul Terry's studio. The bully cat evetually dies a pretty terrible death, what with being stabbed and all. I took a shot at removing the Japanese subtitles.

These Cartoon Features are as Refreshing, as they are Old. Silent features, with a Classical Musical Background; Very Refreshing! As a child I experienced these Farmer Gray features on an isolated station, and I became addicted to them...

I remember cartoons on a 50's Show called "Junior Frolics'" hosted by a guy called "Uncle Fred" on Channel 13, I was at the place where it was broadcast in Newark NJ. Good guys & bad guys would fight. Good guys said, "I wanna be happy; bad guys said, "I wanna be bad" then the good guy would hit them with a bottle of milk & the bad guys Said "I wanna be Happy" & they would sing a song "Sunshine, Sunshine" My wife remembers it too. I know this is nuts, but does anyone else recall that show & is there any video or film of it or cartoons like that.

The Cartoon Network screen bug and the description saying "Japanese subtitles" prove that Paul Terry's silent cartoons are aired on Cartoon Network Japan.

No BCDB entry pinpointing the year (thank you Commonwealth retitles!), so I'm going to guess this is directed by Paul Terry, either before or after the reorganization of the studio in late 1925. The assortment of all of the five key animators in this cartoon are a feature of Terry's directorial efforts at Fables.

The original title is probably "The Hero Wins," although I do not have a copyright synopsis to assure this.

At the very beginning, there is a fanfare before the credit music. The credit music is called "Komic Kapers". What is the fanfare called? The fanfare is clipped on many of these Commonwealth Farmer Grays, thanks for posting what sounds like a complete one.

Huh. I have no idea, HooDat. Maybe a passing cartoon music expert will see this?

Same music as other Commonwealth farmer Grays, but slower. Did it come like this, or fault in uploading?

I noticed that, too. My source for this cartoon came like that. It was broadcast on Cartoon Network Japan's Black & White Overnight block. It almost sounds like it was film-chained at 18 fps instead of 24 fps. But, that's only a guess on m y part!

I just noticed you can correct the speed in the "settings" menu. Click on the gear and choose 1.25 for the speed. That'll fix 'er up good.
