Yes after 3-5 years or more of being bedridden your body basically min maxes and decides “ok you don’t have legs now”. She’s basically rebuilding her legs from scratch

It’s too bad mousey has to be isolated. There are a lot of advancements in physical rehab like zero gravity treadmills where it slowly adds your body weight so you can build up your muscles and aqua aerobics which are very low impact. I think she’d do well with a desk bike. Where you pedal sitting down normally for office workers. Just anything to build the legs back up without so much burnout and pain.

It's not necessarily a bad thing to be nice to people lol. Throwing jabs at friends is fine if that's how you are, but why do you make people who are nice and supportive and empathetic out to be unfriend-like? Our culture nowadays is so weird. Everybody's so used to being put down and being made fun of that they, themselves, feel like they have to put up this facade of sarcasm and have a repertoire of snarky comebacks. Society seems to deem people who don't do that to be abnormal in some way, as if being genuine and forthright about their care and love for you is a bad thing. I've had to deal with this for a long time, and I can't even tell someone "I love you" anymore without feeling embarrassed.

In another clip she was telling Mochi & Melody how she was sad about not being able to train her legs when her infusions would make her sick, feeling like she was erasing all her progress. But resting is super important, especially when you're feeling that awful ache and pain. It gives you time for your muscles to rebuild stronger than before, making your net workout even MORE effective. Soon she's gonna be walking like normal again. Super proud.(:

Considering how many opportunities to get into healthcare that appeared when I was in 12th grade it's a pretty understaffed field. Paramedic classes offered in 12th grade nursing associates degrees offered if you start at 11th grade and get a 13th year of school, and career center classes that give you a boost in healtchcare related scholarships? For free? Just saying look around if your young. If your older I'd say go talk to your doctor and hospitals about job related stuff in person and you might get surprised with job information the internet doesn't have or hides well somehow. Get your money up and your people.

Yes!! I never realized how important physical/ occupational therapists were until I fractured my upper forearm and dislocated my elbow. I was in incredible pain and had to learn how to lift my arm up again and to regain strength in my hand due to the dislocation causing my nerves to paralyze my hand temporarily. My PT was amazing and she made recovery feel possible. She was such an encouragement during some of the hardest parts and I worked really hard to recover. The day I was able to reach up for long enough to wash my own hair in the shower I sobbed from joy. My arm was mega weak after, but it was such a milestone for basic self care that I wasn’t able to do for myself, my mom had to come in and help me. It’s been 3 years since that time and I’ve made a full recovery. I owe it all to my physical therapist and I’d probably add her into my thank you speech if I ever won an Oscar just bc she’d be part of the reason I could hold the dang award 😂❤❤

@@aerocard4831 the CVID I'm referring to here is not short for C-19, although I understand the confusion. Its an acronym for the condition Ironmouse has, "Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disorder". It is a auto-immunity disorder and thus makes the body more susceptible to serious illnesses like infections and often have co-morbid (meaning; multiple at once) conditions that are the likely cause of her mobility issues moreso than from the CVID itself.

It deppends on the type of treadmill tho. If you are using a regular one then yes, but there are also the ones powered by your movement. People often buys those for dogs cus thry cannot give them the propper walks or allow them to run freely in big open spaces. Those are perfect because the faster the dog goes the faster it will move, meaning if they get tired and slow down they will not get pushed backwards. Is more likely the most useful for Mouse and I hope is the one she is using

Mousey was saying the sneakers felt weird. What's crazy to me is that a lot of people take that weirdness as normal: they don't realize that a lot of shoes nowadays are built way too narrow at the toes, which actually forces the foot to change shape to accommodate the shoes and can cause pain. So wide toebox shoes (not wide width shoes, wide TOEBOX shoes) are a lot healthier for your feet even if they might look a little goofier than we're used to shoes looking like! Hopefully Mousey got hella good shoes, she deserves it

My wife had a car accident and had to go to physical therapy to re-learn to walk (broke both her legs and had to get a knee replacement) and when she took her first steps i was so proud of her and her progress (yes i cried a little haha) YOU GOT THIS MOUSE!

Dear people who are starting out excising and feel bad at how little they can do. People who make fun of you for it either don;t know what they are talking about, or are to caught up in their own issues for their opinion to be reliable enough to matter. For the rest of us, you pushing through the pain of something that you weren't prepared for is extremely inspirational. Everyone has to start somewhere so just remember where you are now because if you keep it up, all the more impressive it will be when you look back at it. Congratulations on your new lifestyle. Thank you for the inspiration.

I ruptured my Achilles Tendon last year and had surgery to reconnect everything - a year down the line and I can still barely get up on my tip toes on that leg a year later even after training and physio - takes time to build all the muscles back up again....Keep going!

You don’t really understand how lucky you are to be able to do basic bodily functions until you are unable to do them. After working in medical for 10+ years and seeing people lose the ability to do basic actions, I try not to take anything for granted.

I am so proud of Mousey's progress. I do not have muscle atrophy, so I could not imagine the pain and how it feels, but I do deal with distal arthrogryposis (contraction in the distal joints). I am lucky enough I can move on my own without any help, but it is still a pain and I need to use a wheelchair to get around big places. Seeing the journey of where she was and where she is now makes my heart swell. She is doing amazing ❤.

people Do Not think about it, i'm grateful that she shares her experience and helps normalize what it is for people that still can thrive, just it's in a space with different tools than they maybe were taught to thrive with, and with my condition one of the things that i deal with 2-5x on the regular usually, most people have had at least a couple by the time that they're my peer, so i can at least releate on those singular experiences with them, always though, anything, i feel, people take breathing through their nose for granted until they get a cold and recover, i lose my ability to walk/drive/sit/sleep/eat w/o pain for increasingly frequent periods of time until whenever's it for me, so many people don't live with that, but the world needs more people willing to share like mouse, 'cause the opposite experience is certainly normal for so many

I mean walking 5 mins one day and 10 minutes the next is doubling your exercise. I think most people would feel like they’re dying if they doubled their exercise. It’s great that she is walking at all also this model is so cute

Having someone close to me who went to rehab just to bring up their strength after years of being bedridden puts into perspective just how hard this must be for Mouse. It's a rough time to relearn, but it will get better. Hopefully, she will get to that point as well.

I am chronically ill too. I have been basically bedridden, still able to walk around the house and stuff, but not in shape by any means. I also had to start walking in ten minute intervals while heaving and putting tiger balm on to soothe the pain. Here to say that if you’re in the same boat, it gets better ❤
