How the left shoulder moves in the golf swing, or at least how it moves on camera, can be a big clue as to what is happening.

left shoulder and hip down and around is the most effective swing thought for me. That's when I strike the ball my best. When I get away front that swing key, I slide like I'm trying to stretch a single into a double. Thanks for all the great content.

I'm enjoying the channel. Thanks so much for all the info. On a lighter note, we had two fat tuxedo cats growing up (brothers) named Milo and Henry, where Milo was the leader, and I sent these videos to my family and we are all getting a kick out of your names. It's bringing back a lot of fond memories of those times many years ago. But the content of the instruction is great too, and really, thank you for that. This is exactly what I'm working on right now. Lower body leads as chest lowers to slow the rate of the lead shoulder rising.

One of the best previous videos that Milo had, and I don't remember which one it was, but I know Milo talked about a squat move on the downswing. I was sooooo afraid to do it, I fought it for such a long time, since doing it, my contact, ball flight and shots have been the best EVER. Please give it a try and by doing the squat move, that also helps with keeping the shoulder down as well. Milo and Henry, a great combo threat to improve your golf game, Thanks so much.

Fundamentally spot-on, but as in MOST if not ALL instructional videos, the WHEN part is omitted. 'Transition' is mentioned, but that's too vague. Start the lowering spiral of the left shoulder at the same time your weight moves from your right heel to your left toe box (assuming you have the proper foot trace) and before the right wrist adds flex (lag) at the top. The timing of this is EVERYTHING.

Maintain left side bend a little deeper into the downswing. Tough to open hips/shoulders when the spine is tilted away from the target; the lead shoulder will just go up.

Milo, I am absolutely crushing the ball lately but my misses tend to be heel strikes. I think it's because I need to extend my wrists more at set up so the ball is further away. Not much of a question but do you find that people transitioning to this type of swing tend to have more heel strikes?

Maybe this is what I haven't been understanding! In an effort to stop the right shoulder going out towards the ball and over the top I've started dropping my right shoulder down and left shoulder up to start the downswing! And when I do that I never understood how can I transfer my weight forward if my upper body is dropping back!! I imagine things like sliding as opposed to rotating are like many things in golf. Most golf instruction is from the FRONT on or DOWN THE LINE perspective. You forget golf is a 3D game, played on an inclined plane. I didn't have youtube growing up, just magazines. These provided only 2D views which gave me a lot of misconceptions. You guys also touched on one thing. The golf swing is about a second. The down swing about 1/3 a second. Got any ideas on what to think about in that amount of time??

Well this morning on range (before seeing this video) I was trying to make this (pivot) move and was totally unsuccessful - and very disappointed. I'm 75 and was a pretty good baseball player and tennis player but cannot correctly make this move. I am 5'8" and my backswing is very short with little separation between upper and lower body. When I try to move like you recommend I hit it fat or very fat. I see virtually no players swinging this way - and being Starter at my local GC. I see a lot of players - including the guys and gals on the Texas State golf teams who practice at my course. Any tips on how (and even whether) an old guy with lousy flexibility can learn how to swing this way? It just looks right. I am not a slicer, btw, and hit the 7-iron about 145.

Hi Guys. Your right golfer should never shrug their right or left shoulders up during the swing of the club. This being said did you know that both shoulders can only rotate In their sockets by 20 degrees? And that both shoulders must move from the very start of the golfer’s swing to the very finished? This being said at the start of the golfer downswing the left shoulder must only turn and rotate up as the right shoulder is rotating 20 degrees down until both shoulders levels off at the end of the swing. Cheers
