This is a very helpful video! Been shooting recurve for several years and I always struggled between knowing how to use my shoulder and not my arm to draw. Next time I go shoot, I will try to keep this in mind

I have been a skier for much longer than I have been an archer. Ski instructors constantly stress movement over muscle. Concentrate on the movement, the muscles will follow. Thanks for the reminder.

Good morning from Maple Ridge, BC 🇨🇦 Thank you for this awesome video. I am brand new to archery and am just learning to pull my bow (PSE Lazer). I’m exmilitary and compete in Schutzhund dog sport so am used to being physical but your explanation of bringing the point of the shoulder around totally clicked for me! Technique & foundation are so key; otherwise you get a leaning tower of Pisa. I’m excited to watch more videos.

Thanks a lot, this was really helpful! I'm a recurve shooter and I often find myself straining to get my arrow through the clicker, because I'm focusing on getting my back tension right. I'll try focusing on moving my shoulder correctly instead.

Newbye archer here, and I feel the same. Sometimes the clicker goes off and I'm not even in position, sometimes it feels like it never clicks. I'll try focusing more on the movents as well :)

Thanks Jake. This was a super helpful video. I am an older compound shooter recovering from frozen shoulder problems which are now mostly resolved. But I had clearly developed some bad habits in my draw technique. I had to reduce my draw weight to compensate and was still struggling to recover, as I just learned, mostly fighting myself. I watched your video, and immediately went into the garage to blank bale shoot focusing on only using the shoulder. What a difference. No struggle, no strain. Just like your hand to face explanation. Your channel rocks! Keep up the good work.

When I was competitively shooting during varsity years I also got into powerlifting and bodybuilding, and lemme just say, when my biceps peaked just over 21 inches around, it definitely got in the way of my shooting. And to be honest, the extra developed shooting muscles themselves, while contributing to raw draw strength, were not doing much for shooting stamina.

another great video. directly supports Dr. Gabriele Wulf's research showing that focusing outward (on the movement) results in better performance than focusing inward (on the muscle).

Thanks Jake, I’m a right handed archer with a painful/clicking left shoulder. Several years ago my doctor said that I was vitamin D deficient, not knowing that this vitamin is important for bone and joint strength. Then I broke a small bone in my foot just walking…this is when I was told why D is so important. I’m just sharing and taking supplements, thanks for your coaching!!!

Actually vitamin D alone is useless for bone health since it's role regarding calcium is to regulate it's concentration in blood and not bone's calcification

@@RafelioPsi thanks for the information. I’m taking supplements marketed for men of my age along with the vitamin D. Do you have a professional supplement recommendation for 60 year old men?
@RafelioPsi
@RafelioPsi Жыл бұрын
@@bobjimenez4464 hi Bob. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything specific without having visited you etc. Usually those supplements are specifically formulated to be well balanced among all micronutrients BUT if you have kinda of a severe dericiency you have to take specific supplements of that specific micronutrient you are deficient of. And of course this have to be decided by your doctor. Vitamin D works great especially with vitamin K and C regarding bone calcification, but again... ask your doctor for the best adivice possible.

Bob its actually not that simple. Although D can not be to much (at least not what we currently know) it is not the only vitamine that is needed for this, others are needed so the full system can work in balance. So although it works great for you, it is not the same for all. Best is to take a full range of all needed suplleties as the current food we eat is much less rich of vitamines as it was 200 years or more ago (industrial Revolution)

Alignment is really key. Telling an office worker with less than perfect alignment to use more back tension is rather pointless. The attempt to feel the muscles that the instructor is talking about can ruin everything. Focusing on the mechanics is so much easier to understand and to do. Unfortunately the majority of trainers are just repeating the "back tension story" without paying attention to the alignment of their students. It's not wrong, but it's also not right

Hello Jake, any chance you would revisit the Sanlida Miracle X10 and review and shoot it as a barebow? I'm looking to get it as an entry bow into barebow and would like to see your take on it.

Jake, am I right in thinking that the bones shoot the bow, the muscles are only used to put the bones in the right place or is thinking completely round the bend?

Hey Jake, will your new vanes work on a trad bow shooting off the shelf like a 59 Kodiak for example? Or should "stick" bow people stay with feathers? Thanks
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 2 жыл бұрын
Scott, The WAV PRO Vanes are the same material of the WAV vane and the TRAD vane from AAE. The TRAD vane is advertised to be able to be shot of the shelf for an alternative to feathers. I haven't done it myself, but plan on trying it! The WAV PRO should be able to be shot off the shelf because of that.
