I think i figured it out, it's the room mic placement. With them being over your shoulders and behind you, it gets rid of most of the noise reflecting off the corners directly behind the microphones. That seems to be the only thing that's changed aside from rotating your drum set.

I hate to ask but is it at all possible if you could do a play through of deep red l, its one of my all time favorite songs and would love to learn it on drums, still new so im trying hard but you play insane lol, would be great to have a play through to see what im not doing right, thank you for all you guys do your amazing musicians and should be appreciated more, much love

What type of cymbals are these? Im looking for something different other than the Sabian AAX. I am digging these cymbals in this video. Would love to land my hands on a few! I've been drumming for 20 years, Really dig that sound them cymbals have. #drumlife 🥁🎵🤘

I know I’m not Spencer, but I play the same setup as him so 15” sabian Banda turca, used as hats/ he also uses the 15” click hats 19” sabian HHX Complex thin crash 22” HHX Thin Ride

The room reflections make the sound snare meh. But this is more for learning how to play the song, which it's very useful for.

@@destinos1990 all of the other drum playthroughs spencer has done, have been tighter than this one. IDK why, but something's different in this one.

@@candykanefpv98 I added a mic across the room, facing the other way, knee high, to try and make my room sound bigger without having to use much reverb. Placing it that way also boosts some low end. The overheads were placed directly at my sides instead of right over the cymbals so that I can get a bit more of the drums into those mics.

@@spreencer i guess i just prefer the sound of the other drum playthroughs you've done. They sound crisper to me. The extra room mic does a good job of making the toms and kick drum sound bigger.
