the fact, that this was the first time todd was brave enough to read out loud in front of the group and neil couldn’t be there. it’s heartbreaking. neil had such a big impact on todd and his anxiety :(

I wish they didn't scrap the idea, imagine how tragic it would've been to see Neil at home planing and commiting su1c1de as his friends (and possibly more) and teacher sing and play around, hearing Todd's poem in the background as he walked to his death. It would've been heart renching I wish they kept it plus we would have seen Todd's confidence grow even more and see him be himself with people other than Neil

I agree. To be rebel and to disobey your parents can be seen as wrong, but it's certainly better than committing suicide, if you only have this two options.

Much as I love this, I understand why they didn't include it in the final cut. It works best that Mr. Keating is never physically with them in the cave. His presence, inspiring and wonderful as it was, would inevitably change the informality of the meeting and the way the boys acted around each other. He can't be one of the guys. Also having Todd read aloud with so much easiness in front of everyone except Neil is a bit jarring. The poem is great, but I almost can't recognize him here because the personality shift is too great. I feel like this scene is a wonderful dream, but it's not real. It's almost as if Todd dreamt this whole sequence before waking up to the reality of Neil's suicide.

WHY WOULD THEY CUT THIS
@sha112352 жыл бұрын
I guess they felt it wasn't important and they wanted to concentrate on Neil being trapped at home away from Welton.

Ok, this is the true ending of the movie, but Neil is there with them. Todd reads his poem in front of all of them, Neil is very proud and possibly kisses him, then they go to the waterfall and start dancing, Knox and Chris kiss as well, Ginny is there as well and I've no idea why or how but hi there and they all dance and scream YAWP all happy. THIS is how the movie ended, you can't convince me otherwise.

In the book, Charlie sees Ginny and is captivated by her and recites poetry to her for real, not just dropping lines like with the girls from earlier. It’s a really sweet moment. I was wondering if it would show her here.

I recognize that Irish dance music from Titanic, even though it wouldn’t be shot for another seven years. Beautiful scenes. It’s a shame they were cut.
No Cameron, pure poetry. Why did they cut this scene!?

@@zoecrowl6084 In the movie Mr. Keating has a larger-than-life presence. He's a giant. But his brilliance and his words resonate best when he stays a bit aloof. I don't want his status reduced by being 'one of the guys'. That's just my opinion though.
