It's also the name given to a geographical location in Montana surrounding the headwaters of the Missouri River. It's also the name of the band who produced the film. Furthermore, the Brando film is titled "The Missouri Breaks." This film is Missouri Breaks: The Ballad of Missouri Bill.

@@wearemissouribreaks yes, the Brando film was great. it certainly has no claim on geography. this is clearly another story. i always thought the "Breaks" were the hills in Missouri that 'broke' the plains. turns out i was dumb.

@@stephenmorton8017 I used to think it was part of the movie's descriptive title, like 'The Oxbow Incident' or 'The Eiger Sanction". Well, them's the 'breaks'.

It's not a remake or a sequel. We wouldn't dare attempt to redo anything by Jack. Missouri Breaks is the name of the band that produced the movie and wrote the soundtrack. Think of it like this: if Pink Floyd made a western that wasn't so abstract, instead of making The Wall, and put big cinematic outlaw rock music to it, it would be like this.
