Never again talk about a classical and impactful novel like “Pride and Prejudice” like that. I understand they use it as a metaphor for Hardin and Tessa, but please respect Jane Austen’s work. But then again, Hardin belives Heathcliff is a romantic hero who loves Catherine so much (not saying he doesn’t but, Hardin missed the whole point of “Wuthering Heights”).
@betsyjones822
@betsyjones822 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Literally almost everything they said in this clip is the direct opposite of what was true, even the very first statement that said "Pride and Prejudice" was JA's masterpiece (a lot of people consider "Emma" to be her best work). I just get the impression that the script writer was an idiot.
@zoriniroyte7002

he didn't believe as a romantic hero but a fool as he said in the end of the movie, and for the record what's the point of Wuthering heights?? if he missed??
@ralucacirlan3720
@ralucacirlan3720 2 жыл бұрын
@@zoriniroyte7002 while he did view him as a “fool”, he did lable Heathcliff as a romantic hero. And this is correct in some way, but the way Hardin did is not correct. You can not put Heathcliff in the same category as Mr. Darcy because they are so drastically different. The point of “Wuthering Heights” is not that it’s this tragic romantic story but it’s a story about the human nature, society, psyche and a true tragedy. The “love” story between Cathy and Heathcliff is not meant to be romanticized. It’s tragic and awful, it’s a cautionary tale. If the romance part is what you get from Wuthering Heights then you completely misinterpret what the author was trying to convey.

Some people are like “Well they’re not really talking about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth but more, themselves” like yes, and that is why it sucks! At least, for me. This scene is meant to build tension and it would have been SOOO much better if they could accurately interpret themselves as parallels to Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. The potential subtlety in that would’ve made for a great stir of tension. But since that’s not the case, the conversation just doesn’t flow as well as it could have. Just my opinion though

For people who commented that don't drag Pride and Prejudice into this or that they are insulting Pride and Prejudice or Jane Austen's work - They are just doing their work by speaking those lines. They are actors, not the script writers. So, no need to blame them for these lines. Also, the lines are not that wrong and I am, speaking as a person who actually read both Pride and Prejudice as well as the After books. Pride and Prejudice is a great part of the whole After series so they had to show this scene because this scene gives the glimpse of how the characters are related to the characters in pride and prejudice.

Guys y'all need to chill. It's a movie and they are great actors. If y'all judge every small detail then you will never be satisfied with life. Some may love the movie while others hate it. But keep your negative opinions to yourself as you have to realise that it is not easy to write a book nor make a movie regardless of the plot. Every one is a human and bound to be imperfect. Just because this is a movie don't criticize every small aspect cuz it's meant to be imperfect. Plus literature never has one perspective so whatever perspective any one else has y'all should respect it. If it's not your cup of tea and leave it. Don't mock something cuz in the end the author was able to accomplish something while those who leave negative comments are sad excuses of human beings who find pleasure and bringing another person down
@ItisMOI
@ItisMOI 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly idk why everyone is making a such big deal out of it,it’s just a movie and doesn’t have to be insanely perfect and have every single detail correct. So basically Hardin is recollecting Darcy's attraction to Elizabeth as a fruit of youth and passion and not love. Come on dude, Darcy's life is surrounded by young beauties, he could have gone to any of them if he didn't chose to recognise his regard for Lizzy.

Oh My God... First I saw this movie, then thought Pride and Prejudice was about some toxic relationship and just simply believed in it... But luckily watched Sense and Sensibility, realised something about Jane Austen's works and then dared to watch Pride and Prejudice (which btw happened only after happening to watch some powerful clippings of Elizabeth Bennet) with this huge folly in mind then got blown away by the beautiful story out there... God forbid this happen to anyone seriously...

Guys this scene isn’t supposed to be directly about the book at all. This argument is a metaphor for Tessa and Hardin’s (the guy and the girl that are arguing) relationship, and the argument is supposed to symbolize their relationship. That’s why it’s not directly about Pride and Prejudice, because Tessa and Hardin are putting their own feelings, experiences, and their own relationship into it. Their relationship isn’t like the relationship in Pride and Prejudice, so obviously what has been said in the argument will probably be wrong.

Its just disrespectful towards a classic. And as much as I remember they (Tessa and Hardin) didnt know each other very well before this scene, so it doesnt make much sense for them to fight over this on this way. I can understand that they are talking about each other right here, but it was purely done. The good example of that thing done right was in Jane Austens book club: scene when Grigg and Jocelyn are discussing Sense and Sensibility

@@53bshobhna47in fact didn't shakespeare intended for romeo and juliet to show how stupid teenage infatuation can be? i mean the reason why it's a tragedy is not that they could not be together, but yhe fact that two kids died because their obssesive infatuation and their families being to bussy fighting between themselves to pay attention to them. oh yeah, jane austin is fine..just not my preferred literature style, then again color were made for tastes, one person who likes books doesn't have to like all books that are good. but this "book lovers" are the kind who call themselves intellectuals for liking pride and prejudice, withering heights or romeo and juliet , and then go and call the people who like for example tolkien freaks or say people who like horror novels are creeps.
