I have always found James and Lily's death the saddest in my opinion, they died for a cause but they were still so young. It breaks my heart thinking about it.

lily is a legend and shall always remain one even during death . What a brave mother he was, she even died to save harry. That is truly love. James was also one because even though he did not have his wand, he still everything he could and died as a legend! May you rest in peace.

I truly love the character transform James went from a bully and a show off to a brave person who would hold off the most powerful wizard of all kind just to protect his wife and child, Lucius went from a confident man to a terrified and desperate man in front of Voldemort, and finally Neville went from this forgetful and confused boy to a brave hero confronting Voldemort this just shows they're true color

As someone who was bullied in high school, I despised James when I initially read the book. But as years have gone by I know that yes he was a bully when he was younger but he was also a hero who died trying to protect his family.

So so disappointed that they cast actors that looked like they were in their late 30s/early 40s. I'm sure the actors are phenomenal but they didn't fit this role. The whole tragedy of their death was that they died so young at just 21.

The fact that they casted actors who appeared to be in their 30s took away from the raw, plain devastating feeling I got when I read the books for the first time. Two young adults, barely out of school, barely out of their teens... It's heart-shattering. Lili and James are characters I hold very dear to my heart, but the casting didn't help to create a deeper emotional connection. You asume that two full grown adults will always put their children's safety first, but two 20 year olds? Even if they are responsible, mature and love their kid to death, I don't know, feels more... Relatable? Because I'm in my early 20s and I don't think I could give my life for a baby, lmao, so it really brings me to tears to look back at Lili and James' sacrifice. I wish they had casted younger looking actors.

He remained locked in his house even though he was a lively man and loved freedom only for his son's sake and for his safety. The reason for lily's protection is that Voldemort gave her a choice and if James was in her place he would also choose death for his son

I think if it wasn't for Lily sacrificing her life, Harry would've never destroyed Voldemort, and in the battle of hogwarts when he went to give his life, their presence gave him courage. the Potters are so brave and James, Lily, and harry are some of my favorite characters

I find it strange how in the last book it says that James didn’t have his wand and Voldemort instantly killed him, when in the first book when Harry faces Voldemort, he tells Harry “I killed you father first, and he put up a courageous fight.” So I thought that James and Voldemort had dueled until Voldemort overpowered him.

Lily if you think about it, it's the character with the most impact in the HP books. Her love and sacrifice was so great that it protected Harry for 17 years, even the blood she shared with her sister protected him basically. Also, the love Snape had for her was so powerful that he ended up being one of the most important pieces to defeat Voldemort and also protect Harry. Snape never stopped loving her one second and that is so beautiful Professor Slughorn also gave his memory in honor of Lily, he felt guilty for hear death and he always remembered her as one of his best students.

We all got to take a small step back here. James may had done few jerkish things while he was young but honestly haven't we all done things that we're not proud of? Life is about growing from your mistakes. James still was loyal to his family and friends and when his world was threatened by a extremely dangerous wizard he did stepped up to try to save his world and others. No doubt that the war helped him see the world on a much more spiritual way. We have to understand that nobody (besides Snape) hold his childhood mistakes against him. He (and many others) grew up. He can't be defined as a person over one period of his life. It's like what Dumbledore and Sirius both said...everybody have good and bad in them and are capable of changing. We have to remember that much of the negativity of James comes from Snape who is someone who is not only holding a childhood grudge but refuses to acknowledges and see that James did do some good in his life. We have to remember that despite Snape having a deep fondness for Lilly, he was the one who wasn't willingly to changes for her nor was he willingly to see his own faults between him and James' rivalry. The situation isn't as black and white as the films make it out to be. We see that Harry does learn to accept that his father was human and regained enough respect for him that he named one of his sons after him.
