Plot: Shekhar (Rajendra Kumar), lives a wealthy lifestyle and flirts with every other woman. His parents are tired about is womanizing nature but are unable to do anything. Shekhar's father, a Public Prosecutor, Dharamdas (Nasir Hussain) when finds out that Shekhar is involved with a woman, Hemlata (Shashikala), who is pregnant, he asks his brother - in - law to solve this issue and convince Shekhar to get married. Shekhar meets Sharada (Jamuna), and falls in love with her. He even changes his entire nature and is ready to accept Sharada. Things go for a toss, when police arrests Shekhar in the murder case of Sharada. Is Shekhar the actual murderer or is he being forced to enter the picture?

'Gehra Daag' and 'Hamrahi' were not silver jubilee hits. They were moderate successes. 'Gehra Daag' figured in the top ten hits of 1963 along with 'Dil Ek Mandir' and 'Mere Mehboob'. One film of Rajendra Kumar which flopped in 1963 was 'Akeli Mat Jaiyo'. Not many are aware that Rajendra Kumar did a double role in this film. The other film in which he played a double role was 'Gora aur Kala' (1964) which was inspired by the hollywood swashbuckling film 'The Corsican Brothers' (1941). Two other films which were inspired by this film were 'Nishaan' (1948) and 'Appu Raja' (1989).
