@@kimpeater1 These would probably still exist. Farming has gone on since humans stopped being hunter gatherers. Before electricity there were markets, and all the rest.

The issue is that without power A LOT of amenities fail. If it’s a case of an EMP hitting everything at once, draining all power and killing all power generation, then you’re back at square one in terms of generating power as well. The power plants we have were built using power. You’d have to go way back to coal or steam generators, very simplistic ones, just to generate power to start rebuilding and fixing things. While you’re doing that, there will be mass worry as people find nothing works. No lights, no cold or long-term food storage, not even any way to get the news to figure out what’s going on. The masses are completely in the dark both literally and figuratively. People will get more and more worried as time goes on, especially as supermarkets will be less stocked (they’re stocked with electronics for transport) and food becomes more scarce. (Farms will have difficulty, as a lot of things use electricity. Vehicles for harvesting as one example. Factories will be inoperable.) Panic would start setting in, and when panic starts setting in, people get stupid. All it’d take at that point is a spark, whether an idea or a death, to make people go full panic, storming supermarkets for food, accidental deaths occurring, leading to more panic, leading to intentional deaths, leading to robbery, murder… At the core of it, you’re asking for everyone to wait as the entire electrical grid is fixed, and during that time food transport and production is reduced by a massive amount due to the lack of resources and machinery. The human race is so numerous, and we’re so reliant on our technology, that if the technology suddenly fails, we’re fucked.
