RIP Sean, got replaced without his partner ever realising.
@Hal09i
@Hal09i 2 жыл бұрын
Not really...there are an infinite number of Sean's running around in different realities. And in the one where Coulter ends up, he would have died anyway. So one life (Sean's) for everyone on the train in that reality...and Sean also gets to live on in alternate realities (assumes there are some where for one reason or another he did not take that train).

I'd like to think that Colter and Sean's consciousness merged. To the viewer we think that Sean is a completely new consciousness that took over, but in that reality it could be that they were actually the same or similar and thus merged together. Which is why they would have became one. Like some other consciousness just unknowingly slides into your soul/conscious being to become one entity. xD

its a movie, they wanted to allure to the possibility of changing the past with no exact ways on the HOW, it ended in a "happy note" and you can interpret it anyway you want, parallel universe where his concious is in now, he died and is in heaven etc etc, no "sci-fi" justification is given at all, it's left in the air, don't think too hard on it, plenty of details won't make sense depending on what ruleset for "time travel" you apply, the movie focused on the sentimental value more than the sci-fi part.
@blessethishe
@blessethishe 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't make sense how that technology would had constructed a whole world beyound the host vision. What i mean is the Lady said he was seeing shadows but he actually was seeing everything in full detail. You would see shadows or afterimage out the corner of your eye when not focusing on something. It seems like they used everyone eyes to make the entire reality which would explain why he was able to go off the train and see things in details that his host might had never seen. Almost like he ascended to a 4th dimensional being. You could think of it as having multiple eyes all around and beyound that creates one big image/reality like what our current 2 eyes do.

Hands down one of the greatest obscure movies out there in recent memory. It sets you up to think that at the end, coulter is going to die on the last mission and Goodwin is essentially just granting a dying man a last request. One last mission for him to go out like a hero. But the twist at the end, which was foreshadowed in the beginning by the talk between Jake and Michelle, man that was so cool. Such a cool take on the parallel reality concept and mixed with elements of groundhog day meets save the world sci fi epic. Also, if you didn't cry for coulter at the end when he got a second life, I'm not friends with you.

Interesting premise. The idea of a machine that is able to infinitely replay important events from the past is really cool. But I hate they went with the typical "government illegal experimentation" angle. They needed to create some mystery for the first act or watching a train blow up over and over would get boring. Also, they mention a military court ruled they could hook up a dying soldier to the parallel universe machine, so it's not illegal. Maybe unethical to continue without his consent, but given the circumstances I think it's reasonable.

Probably something to do with the intrusiveness of the brain probes they use. They couldn't get the go ahead on a live and healthy person. So they most likely just stole this guys body and did it that way. Its not far fetched and its the crap they really do. Just look at all the medical and weapon information we bought out from the nazi and Japanese reigns. Give us your data and we will let you go. Endless amounts of human experimentation and mutilation.

if anybody has trouble understanding it, think of the whole thing as a game replay sistem, in which you can replay events which happened and change them, but only in the replay dimension, so like parallel universes creating themselves whenever you replay, but not affecting the main one, so just copies of it
