Forgetting Sarah Marshall is really one of my favorite movies. Every time I feel down or upset i throw this into the DVD tray and immediately feel better. It's a great example of real dynamics between people,. no one is perfect and that makes me happy.

This has always been one of my favorite comedies and one I've watched a lot. I'm glad to see someone give it a serious analysis.

I came to this video because you usually do more serious movies and I was interested, but this has been one of my favorites. I think you dug out and explained things even deeper than the "not subtle" parts. Keep making your videos man, they're amazing, I really hope to be able to watch movies on your level one day!

I'm glad you like the rest of the series. As far as this movie goes, you're obviously entitled to your opinion, but you seem to think that movies can only be good/worthwhile if things are deeply hidden. Straight-forward stories with great characters, relatable situations, and legitimate resolutions (like this) can still be good movies, despite being straight-forward. Just my opinion I guess.

I always love the part where Sarah is walking up to Peter and he says, "I wish I wasn't wearing this fucking shirt." Everyone can relate to that.

First: totally agree about the film and helped me define why I like the movie so much. I'd say mission accomplished on your end. Second: Not bad on the editing front, but not sure what kind of mic you are using. It sounds flat and overly compressed. I realize that's quite nitpicky, but a decent mic will add a bit more depth to your voice both literally (quality brings depth and warmness to a voice) and figuratively (it'll beg more of your character and confidence out of you.)

I COMPLETELY agree. The usually wonderful Rachel McAdams and her parents were the worst thing about the otherwise charming Midnight in Paris. A real blight on the movie. Sarah Marshall is actually sympathetic and Aldous Snow for all his narcissism is witty and charming as hell--and does the odd good deed for sexually constipated newly weds...

I didn't say the movie wasn't good/worthwhile. I just thought that it doesn't provide enough to be a worthwhile subject matter for this video series. But it is a good example to use for dissecting the great parts about simple and common elements in film. BTW, your videos on In Bruges and No Country for Old Men really make me want to rewatch them. If you ever take requests for this series, I want to see Children of Men and/or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, my two personal favorites.

I was watching it yesterday, and I am still trying to figure out why eventually Sarah, despite being having a good reason to break up with him, why would she still lean on him to get him back at the end.

This was DESPISED, when it came out... what a dystopian nightmare of entertainment, when there's an honest video essay on a film maybe one step up from, "Scary Movie." Or more accurate, the Wedding Singer. So AVERAGE, at best. Shit, release this now, and there would be ppl calling it a comedic masterpiece of drama. Like this video implies.

While I do love Forgetting Sarah Marshall and agree Funny People is underrated, Superbad I think is the best comedy to come out of the Apatow era, you need to do that one!

Love this series, but this isn't the best piece of it.Compared to your other "Movies I love" videos, all the points you make about Forgetting Sarah Marshall are fairly obvious. Like you said, the screenplay is not subtle, and even the things you pick out of it aren't deeply hidden. And no matter ho many good points you can find about the movie, that doesn't change that fact that it's basically a more polished, gender-swapped Lifetime Original movie.
@verlinswarey5077 жыл бұрын
I hate this movie with a passion .To me it's just another indication of how Hollywood has completely forgotten how to be funny. Resorting to showing a naked guy twirling his schlong isn't funny;it's a sign that you don't know how to be funny. it's also a pathetic attempt at adding realism to the movie.everybody knows that everyone walks around naked at some point during the day.what's the point in showing it?Nice review,though. Actually much better than the movie it covered.

+Ralph Waldo Picklechips It does, actually. We can talk about movies with quality, both objectively and subjectively, and we can also talk about movies we enjoy, regardless of quality. Our personal, favorite movies. This would be a case of the latter.

+Valter Östberg Thanks for saying what I didn't feel like saying. But yes, that exactly.
@Cal60098 жыл бұрын
+Ralph Waldo Picklechips I think he was saying that while obvious it tries things that other romantic comedies/comedies don't, and at the same time is more grounded in reality and is heavily character driven. You can like something with it not being the best thing ever, just being pretty good.

This is a good film but it would have been much better without all the ridiculous sex jokes.
