It's basically a sly remake, so no, it isn't anywhere near better than the original. The only people that like it better are those that like more action. This is a filmmaking masterpiece, and T2 is a very good corny action movie that did a great job of tapping into the same emotion as T1.

This might be my favorite Mary reaction yet. 1) the meta commentary about angry viewers leaving dumb comments, 2) the amount of times Mary was so surprised or disgusted she said "Nee" instead of "No" (I love the times when you react in your native language instead of English), 3) the funny comments, 4) the singing game while all the cops are being killed! That last one was amazing. I'm not quite familiar with that specific singing phrase. Not sure if you'll ever have a chance to answer this question on a future video, but what was that song & what were the words? This movie is so good for the very small budget it had. A classically great science-fiction film. The 1991 sequel is epic. A HUGE budget, state of the art special effects (for that time), but one that doesn't forget to bring up the fate vs choice dilemma raised in the first movie. The sequel is only so great because of that great work the 1984 movie did. It paved the way for the sequel to succeed. For me, the jump from "Terminator" to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is very similar to the jump from "Alien" to "Aliens." The originals are more sci-fi/horror while the sequels are sci-fi action movies. But it also helps that "Aliens" was also directed by James Cameron. For my money, the 2nd sequel is the only other Terminator movie you need to see, Mary. There are a lot of sequels & even some sequels that negate some of the other sequels; creating multiple timelines. It gets quite messy & none of the sequels after T2 come close to the first two in terms of good storytelling, good writing, or good movie making.

All of the commenters below will tell you what I'm already going to say - watch the sequel. It's so much more epic! This is the film that originated the "I'll be back" quote. In fact, it was so popular that a few of Arnold's movies that followed "The Terminator" uses the quote in really funny ways. Here are some more classics to react to someday: "Duck Soup" (1933); "Bringing Up Baby" (1938); "The Awful Truth" (1937); "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" (1939) and "Gone With the Wind" (1939).

I totally respect your squeamishness. It's a tribute to the film maker that you were so drawn in, that the special effects felt real. When I hit stretched like that, I instantly dissociate myself & wonder how they made such believable effects. AND he did it on such a low budget. No one - except maybe James Cameron & Gayle Anne Hued - expected it to become a classic. Just a low budget B-movie. This made the careers of everyone involved. I deserves its 'film classic' status. "People need to sleep at night" "This was the perfect ending, another sex scene, goodbye, next " Those were epic reaction quotes Mary 😂. Honestly with the terminator destroyed and Sarah and Kyle moving on, it would've been the perfect ending. But then we wouldn't have any sequels now would we? I know you love your cats but they distracted you from the biggest jump scare sequence @30:54. Anyways of all your reaction videos this was my favorite Mary. I strongly recommend T2. Not only is it widely regarded as better than the first movie ,it's also my favorite movie of all time. Thank you Mary 😊

Nobody mention ANYTHING about the sequel, T2. Let her go in fresh.

Awesome reaction! There are a few sequels that are equal to or even better than the first. T2 definitely fits in that category!

Fun fact: The director, James Cameron, designed the night club so well, people were coming off the street during filming, because they thought it was a new hot night club in L.A. and they wanted to dance and have a good time. The band actually performed songs from the movie long after it was made. Tahnee Cain and The Tryanglez.

Terminator 2 is stellar... T3 is Meh T4 is Meh but a fun watch T5 was a cash grab T6 is Director JC's two finger salute to Hollywood Honestly Terminator and Terminator 2 are good enough as a single coherent story

Agreed. The extra scenes are cool to check out after but they ruin the pacing in my opinion.

I prefer the 2017 remaster. Just make sure to watch a version with the original ending, and it's all good.

27:23 "Every time you're like, 'He's dead now,' NOPE." Yeah, that's pretty much the movie summary right there! 🤣

The second movie does follow this, and it's one of the few sequels that is highly acclaimed by viewers as a must-see.

Just going to throw out there that if you are going to recommend Terminator 2 (which I agree with), don't assume she knows anything about it! Keeping all of the movie's surprises, even ones that were given away in the 1991 advertising, will make for a more entertaining video.

Another reactor summarized the movie this way: "They're fighting over her vagina!" Unique, but accurate.
