Kristi, you are a Warrior. But remember the warrior is a child of God. That's when we need to cry out to be lifted up. Tears are normal and cathartic. Your time in quarantine will go by quickly! As well as your year in the classroom. Just rest knowing that God is in control. Praying without ceasing for you.

You must be a smart gal to be selected by the Fulbright program. If you have done some homework (watching tons of videos on KZfaq by foreigners living in Taiwan) beforehand, you probably know you will have a blast in Taiwan. It’s super safe (no worry walking in the street late at night as a single woman, no worry about leaving your laptop & cellphone on the table in a coffee shop when you go to the bathroom, etc.), the local food is super tasty ( be adventurous), and most of all people are super friendly. Don’t be afraid to ask a stranger for help. In most cases, people would stop what they are doing and go out of their way to help you. Enjoy your time in Taiwan. You will love it.

Taiwan is a fantastic place, my wife and I took the direct from Houston flight on our last visit, and did a around the island bus train motorcycle tour. (Mandarin Training Center 1990-1993 student). Enjoy learning Chinese, new languages improve thinking dynamics, (I suspect because we "think" in languages, and languages have many ways of looking at the world). *just keep improving / getting better *that is what we say in swim coaching.

After watching couple of your videos, I start to remember the first time I came to United States from Taiwan 24 years ago. Before I came, I took English Conversation Class for almost a year, meaning I could do very basic conversation with people in United States before I came, at least I could order In N Out for myself (You know which parts of United States I am at, right ^_^). I also had couple relative in US already which means I have someone can rely on. You are so brave. Give you a big thumb up.

Having wheels on your bags when traveling is so important. Hope you get google Fi service before you left for your trip. Flat rate $10 per gigabyte also for roaming data. It is not the cheapest, but is is fairly convenient. Of course, you can always get a local sim card once you arrive. But it is always nice to have mobile data the moment you hit the ground. Helps with so many things and you still feel connected to the world. Luckily you are not traveling alone so it is no big deal. Taipei and Taiwan is great. I am sure you are going to have a good time.
@Blaze6432

This is a big waste of time. Especially if your going to be living there for a year.. You can literally get a cheap Sim card prepaid at the airport.

Welcome to Taiwan, my favorite country in the world. There are quite a few American expats blogging in the country that you may want to contact just for chat or getting help. Apropos, I suggest that you mark the water level for two plastic cups and directly fill in hot water in to the mug because plastic will release harmful chemicals at high temperatures.

2 weeks is a long time to be stuck in one room. What day are you on and is cabin fever setting in? Btw I'm pretty sure you can order uber eats if you need a change in food or coffee

It definitely is a long time, but I am doing pretty well! I am currently on day 7 of my quarantine! Yes!! I have been getting coffee from Uber Eats almost everyday! It is the BEST :)
