Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

An idea for the rock, and I might have missed it getting mention, but ive seen black metal lettering cut out with the last name and fastened to a rock and it looks pretty nice, especially with that light there

Your landscaping is looking nice. Love the lights , sure sets it off. Your daughter sure is a cutie and I take it she's a daddy's girl. We got an inch last night and 8 hours of no power. Could have been a lot worse.

Code generally wants to see the furnace exhaust and combustion air to be higher off the ground. The concern is that the snow doesn't pile up and create a carbon monoxide situation.

The hydrangea will change color depending on your soil PH. If there is the same soil on both sides, both hydrangea will have the same color eventually.

There’s a company in Ohio that does custom drone spraying,also sells the drones to farmers,don’t remember their name, saw them with millennial farmer out of Minnesota. Really awesome.

Now you need a bolder by the flag pole. Also maybe arrange todays boulder so a flat side faces the road , then maybe Mark could make you a nice " The Bakers" plaque to mount . It looks great so why not go for awesome

10:10 DRONE :) how far away are those ohio dudes that do the AG drone sysetm in a trailer ? :) that would be cool to see you DRONEIN EVERYTHING :) when applying the feed to the crops ;) hehehehe

Do they clean the possible pretreat residue from the boxes when they are returned?? Otherwise, if you treat the beans and put them right back in the same boxes, how is there no contamination on next year beans that you have to sell to the coop?

Yes all boxes are returned to a facility that cleans and repairs any damage before they are taken back to the seed processing facilities
