GIRL oh my gahhhhhddd, I LOVE how this vlog showed up on my home page (I was born in Toronto and then lived in Calgary for 25 years, but we moved to the West Kootenays in B.C. four years ago although I'm still in Calgary part-time throughout the year for work and to visit family - I'm here right now as I type this), but then..... I screamed when I saw you had a pug 😂 I'm a vlogger as well and work as a pug sitter in the city, so I vlog about that when I'm doing it! Hahaha. Amazing. Excited to follow along! Congrats on your new home, chapter, adventure, and awesome memories to be made. Loving how the apartment is coming along! I also rewatch my older videos. For both memories and research lol. What I like and don't like about a video. But yeah, it's almost like re-reading a journal entry. Lots of cringy moments for me but also lots of "awww, remember that?" Growth is a weird but also very fulfilling thing to see in video form. Not many will understand ❤

@@davidjym right !!! It’s going to be high 20s this week and about the same temp as the surface of the sun on the grounds - so glad they can insure all the animals have proper water - and people to - heat stoke on the grounds is supper common -

Yes! Even though Calgary is quieter than Toronto because it's smaller, but there are lots of nature things to explore and people are much friendlier here!!!!😊

congrats on the big move! Was so close to make the drive in the middle of covid lockdowns but then was turned off by the fact that there is nothing to see in the vast Ontario/Manitoba stretch. Did you guys have to do a oil change half way through? Cant wait you to share more about life in Calgary :)

The mattress/couch sure looks comfy. Your dinner date food looked delectable . I can't wait to see your exploration of Calgary and what it offers. I hate and am awful at assembling things. 😖I get my father to do it and at his age of 91, he still knows what to do. I really liked your haul which are such good choices, colourwise. As for raspberry jam with cookies, there is a nice Australian version of it.😀 I am like you, I need my coffee first or otherwise I can't function.😬 I also hate updating my computer...too time consuming.😶

is calgary affordable? i heard the rent increased by 30% in this year alone and that its getting torontoed and vancouvered fast because they have no rent control law. hopefully it remains the affordable big canadian city that it used to be. or maybe edmonton will become the next affordable big city in canada instead. who knows.

It's gone up 40% in last 2 years. House prices and rent still lower than van/Toronto but the rate of increase here Is wild. House prices are up every month too. My friends house went up 20% in value in just a few months...

Welcome to Calgary! Frugal tips for Calgary... because I am cheap... I am not calling you cheap. Base groceries cost a little more in Calgary. TO. is a shipping hub close to a border with factories and a better growing zone. So base groceries will be 10 to 15% higher.... BUTTTTTT that being said, Calgary is a discount produce scene that is fire. On the book of faces you can find Daily fresh produce at sunrisdge mall, close to it there is H&W produce and Freestone produce. In the SE in a not so good neighborhood there is a Go Produce store. In the Deep south, there is a store called the crisp apple. The crisp apple is the slightly more expensive of them... but rents are higher in that area. These stores have some pretty fierce compitition with each other... so they don't tend to like filming or taking pictures in the stores. Ask first there. Freestone has the cheapest prices and the worst parking and lines outside to get in. For me, it gives me anxiety. LOL... but dang they are cheap. Daily fresh is close to it. We also have some grocery stores you don't have. One of them is save on foods. The cool thing about them... you can price match and use coupons no problem. It is a higher end like safeway or sobeys with the price match option. First Tuesday of the month is customer appreciation day at Save On Foods. You can price match and then get 15% off your order over $50. That means you can beat the lowest prices on groceries. Yes, you can still use coupons too if that is your jam.
