The reason why cohabitation generally works during brumation is that the colder weather slows down the snakes metabolism rate (its dependent on thermal regulation) sending a signal/instinct to the snake that eating could mean death if the food item isn't digested before it starts to rot inside the snake.

She had a ball python in high school. 18 years later we now have 2 dogs, 2 sphinx cats, bearded dragon, 4 ball pythons, western hognose, brazilian rainbow boa, 4 budgies, 2 finches, a curly hair tarantula, and a veiled chameleon. Thank you Ed and Emily for all your content. We can't wait to bring our kids out to see your facility.

@amander403 3 жыл бұрын
What's been said in other videos (especially the early ones talking about the building plans) was that all the snakes - display and breeding - will go to the facility. However! The breeders aren't NECESSARILY the display animals. I imagine she might put some of them on display, but most of the racks will still be used and just in the back, away from the public eye. In fact, as I recall, the racks are going in the area behind the invert wall, near the office and across from the classroom. So, yes still brumate them, but the displays will likely still have non-breeding snakes in them.

She happened to be out of hiding (I think this was around spring, so it was breeding season) and when she saw the BP, she started doing the "I'm not food" twitchy dance for him. I felt bad for the lonely corn snake girl, as she's not a breeder, but it's so cute to see her trying to be sociable toward him.

Thanks to the reptile knowledge I have just saved a tortoise. My cousin bought one with no knowledge on how to look after them and I had to give her a list of stuff to buy so that it'll stay healthy. For example a UVB light and calcium powder. I also told her to do a heck load of research now to give the tortoise the best chance it could have

Your floor looks like mine each time I change the bedding in my rabbits’ cages. Emily, how many flights of stairs did you climb this day? Also, how will brumation work in the facility?
