Definitely alot more convenient having a pony motor on the trailer if you use different trucks without wet lines on all of them.

Oh I don't blame you a bit for backen down some. When you have everything going and try to keep up with it all it takes a lot of time. Which with a family you just can't do it. I think everyone will understand if they think about it. Keep up the good work. Oh did you whatch West Coast Logging?? He was at the Oregon Logging Show and it had a real big Waratah that weighed 10 thousand pounds!!! That's a big head!

Having it's own wet system keep you moving forward because if you need a certain tractor and it's broke or something it will keep you from moving machines and that hurts the bottom dollar

My landscaping business is much smaller than your logging operation, so our equipment is smaller too. But I hate loading tracked equipment on our deck-over trailer. We work in city settings a lot, and end up loading on hills quite a bit. No worse feeling than when you are pivoting from the ramps to the trailer deck, on a hill! lol Great video!!

Equipment moving day, always somewhat worrisome but a good feeling! I did the math on cost of moving equipment and found if moving 85 miles or less it was cheaper to 'road' the grader than sending a lowboy back for it....and the 'man hours' consumed was equal or less....and after tracking the costs a couple of times, I found it worked out that way in reality. ....13

Lowboy trailers are expensive! I pull a 3 axle Doonan 80,000lb capacity There around $62,000 new... Good stuff right there and it’s interesting to see how others do loading and moving heavy equipment 👍

How does the cutting and marketing arrangements work in the logging industry? (1)Do you just buy the cutting rights, and then sell the logs to the mills? All the costs of constructing the roads, cleanup, erosion control, market price fluctuations, etc. fall your shoulders. (2) You just cut and haul the logs, do erosion control and clean up on behalf of the land owner for a fee?

Art M in many cases the logging company does it all and the land owner gets commission for them logging their property I don't know if he does it that way or not

Tim, what size motor is on that lowboy 5hp? Have you seen the mechanical trailers that are out west? You don't have a motor at all. I agree with you backing down, because you need to have a life, and your family is growing up fast and before you know it they will be married and gone.

Good video. I have question in regards to your bulldozer and motor grader. I live in the SE Georgia area and their is a lot of logging operations here, I have not seen any motor graders or bulldozers with their logging operations. Is the bulldozer and motor grader a requirement were you do your logging? Thanks
@-mike--m-9629
@-mike--m-9629 6 жыл бұрын
Terry G They need the dozer to build the road into the area being logged. A rough haul road can damage the a trucks suspension and there's always the danger of flipping a truck over. A loaded log truck is somewhat top heavy. As timber is harvested the loading area or "deck" is moved closer to the timber. The shorter the distance the skidders have to pull logs to the loader.. the less fuel the skidders consume. (Fuel costs are high)

Wonder why Alabama wants machines on backwards?

What's the reasoning behind having to load dozer backwards? Besides the state of Alabama says so?.
@jimd9511
@jimd9511 6 жыл бұрын
Nancy Glover That's the way I was always taught. If backing down there is a greater chance of it flipping over backwards. Again, as it was explained to me years ago, TRACTORS can flip backwards when backing down and the brakes are hit at the wrong time. Track equipment may be different. I don't have experience with that. Maybe someone else can jump in here......

In case a vehicle side swipes the trailer it’ll hit the c frame of the dozer first instead of the cutting edge of the blade.
