I was born & raised in the Austin TX area and I think I might only have a year left here before I decide to move on. Arlington seems pretty high on my list for the walkability alone. I only drive when I absolutely need to, but I like having things easily accessible by bike/on foot.

Get real, Arlington, Va is an outrageously expensive place to live. The first con that trumps all is that you need a minimum salary close to 100k to afford a nice 1br apt (with modest personal debt). If you dream of owning a house, your salary needs to be 200-300k. A two-bedroom house in that area is close to 500k.

My house is 1400 sqf, 1 1/2 bath, basement, 6,000 sqf lot - taxes for 2021 are $8,455.25 - tax assessment $820,000. Any 8,000 sqf lot is targeted for teardown/new house priced over $1,000,00. I'm bailing out this fall hopefully. Great place to live if you can afford it.

born and raised in Arlington graduated from washington and lee (know its called washington and liberty ) moved to prince william county but im renting out my house on glebe rd. south to be exacts i will never sell the house rent is such a relief especially since my birth home is so close to the pentagon and ft myer .. love arlington

Cost too damn much, unless you want an apartment or crappy condo. Home ownership in Arlington is nearly impossible.

We noticed that more and more inventory is coming up. There are several very affordable areas in Arlington. We are seeing signs of buyer's market. Crazy offers time will be over soon.

@@michaelpennix6917 Sorry for the late reply. It’s FAR too expensive, even if you make good money. My husband and I (combined) make 185k and that doesn’t get you much in Arlington. The food is trash, the roads are awful, the people are selfish and unfriendly. Don’t do it...

Wonderful video, except it would of been nice to also show the south side of Arlington. I feel like the south side of Arlington gets neglected due to it not being as “Bougie” as the North (Ballston, Clarendon, VA Square, Rosslyn, Williamsburg) .. Crystal City, Columbia Heights West, Glencarlyn being on the south side are great areas as well. Overall enjoyed the video! I’m a DC native and have lived in Arlington practically all my life.

Hello Yakub! Thank you for your kind words about the video! Regarding your question - the weather is fairly mild. We experience all 4 seasons. Spring and Fall are my favorite. Summer is hot and humid. We rarely see any snow during the winter but the temperature drops to about 30-40F in Dec-Jan. Crime rate - Virginia in general (including Arlington) has one of the lowest crime rates in the country. Where do you currently live? What brings you back to VA?

Arlington is not a city, it is a county without a city. Alexandria is a city without a county. It use to be Alexandria City in Alexandria County, but they separated ways. Alexandria County changed their name to Arlington to avoid confusion. Third grade local history research for several years.

How cold does it get during the winter? When does winter begin and end? In Minnesota, it gets to 0 degrees, and winter starts in October and ends in May!

Hi Matthew, Luckily, it doesn't nearly get as cold as in Minnesota. We are averaging low 30 F throughout the winter starting mid-Dec to mid-Feb. Weather can be very unpredictable here. Just a few days ago the weather was in the low 60 F for 3 days. A few years ago we had a massive snowstorm and the city was totally shut down for a week. Are you looking to move to the N.Virgnia area soon?

My husband and I lived in Arlington for a year and HATED it. The people here are like robots, the traffic is horrible, food is mediocre, and traffic is obviously terrible.

@@phattrel6023 I'm a younger minority who lives in Alexandria adjacent to Arlington but I frequent Arlington quite a bit as I have friends there. I've never had any issues but I'm also a "professional" so that could be why... Never thought about it like that. I've lived in the area 5 years all in different parts of Alexandria. I've seen bad areas (mostly reduced to streets) in Old Town but that's about it. I've seen the panhandling you mentioned. Outside of the astronomical cost of living I love it here. I will say the people here do tend to keep to themselves and mind their own business, so maybe that's what OP means by "robots". Thank you for your perspective.

Overall living cost is definitely above average. If you move even 45-60 min south or west, the cost will significantly decrease. We are in the metro area and forced to pay a premium.

HI there! All this information is great. My husband and I live now in NYC. I am American and my husband is Hungarian. My fear about leaving NYC is that I assumed is lacked diversity. I am glad that this is not the case. This lack frighten me. LOL.

Hello, weather is not bad at all. It's all depends where you are moving from. Luckily we enjoy all 4 seasons. Winter is very mild. Summer can get humid. Hope this helps.
