Try also Horta Guinardo it is the neighborhood above Gracia and it's amazing. I totally agree for Sarria who is a nice place to live but not with Sarria who is overpriced. You should find the same flats for a better price in Horta Guinardo. Try also Santa it is a more local option full of middle-class people but there you will really live like a local. I used to live there almost 6 years before I moved and this is a real hidden gem....and yes I am living in Madrid now and really prefer it to Barcelona.
