Just what I needed to hear. I too have left Dallas to travel all over Colorado in my 4runner every year. Colorado has always been in the back of my mind, but I keep dragging my feet on moving due to having a couple of small businesses here and the idea of moving alone. Thanks for speaking the words I needed to hear.

I moved here from Florida - which many people think is crazy. However, Florida is really hot in the summers - oppressively hot and muggy - which is most of the year. For example, it was 97F with 97% humidity on July 3rd - which is like a sauna you can't escape. My AC runs 24/7 for most of the year and during the day in the winters - my electric bill ranges from $500 in the winters to $800+ in the summers. While the winters are glorious in central Florida, I'd rather be skiing. Additionally, many insurance companies are leaving Florida (and many southern coastal communities) because of storm risks - which leads to significantly higher auto and home insurance. My cousin recommended Colorado Springs since she lived here for several years and loved it - and she thought we would too (she was right). We looked at several communities along the Front Range and nowhere felt like home more than Colorado Springs.

Thank you for this!! I’m in San Antonio and I’ve seen job listings for Colorado Springs and wouldn’t mind moving but I’m unsure since it IS a drastic move from the hot Texas to a cool state

Furnish Finder hmm thanks planning a move there in Aug of next year. Got tons of shit to go through and either pack or throw away / give away. I was wondering how to handle our first month or two there while looking for a house. OH can you please tell me WHY people there hate cats ? I've been looking through some of the rental sites and while they all take dogs many of them say no cats WTF ? I love dogs and plan to get more once moved but my cat is old and he's super chilled he mostly sleep all day you hardly every see him.

Many cats can scratch up furniture - so many furnished places will have restrictions on pets - especially cats and large dogs. I ended up renting an unfurnished apartment for 6 months while waiting on my house to be built in the Wolf Ranch community - mainly so we could keep our cat with us.

Tons of people are allergic to cats. Cat dander never gets out of carpet. If they urinate on the carpet, you can never get the smell out. It's worse than dog pee. That's why unfortunately.
