Omg ! Your life is so similar to mine. I was born in Mx but, left my country at the age of 6. Did Elementary, Middle school, & High School in USA. I graduated from High School in USA. & came back to Mx to study college bc its cheaper. I had some rough times bc I had never study in Spanish. Also I didn't visit Mx for 12 years it was like me going to a new country, rather than coming back to my country. I'm curently studying in a private school but, i miss the USA school spirit. U.S. The only problem I have is that I’m not bilingual so I’m not sure if there is something that can translate the lectures for me? I’m sure I can find out. I don’t think I’ll have time to become fluent before classes start but if I have to postpone I can do that until my language skills are proficient.

Funny how we expect people to learn English when they come to the US but also expect people to accommodate us English speakers in other countries. Now with that being said I have been studying Spanish for a while and was considering studying in Mexico but through a study abroad program through a university in the US. But when I looked up the cost of tuition here versus some universities in Mexico I realized it's kind of a rip off. So it would be more cost effective to enroll directly into a university there. But one thing that comes to mind is the fact that my community college credits wouldn't transfer. Another thing is the entrance exam. They test you on things we dont study here like Mexican history.
@sergtana
@sergtana 5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. The only entrance exam I had to take was the SAT. I submitted my scores and got accepted. I'd suggest emailing the university you're considering and explaining your situation, they may have a specific path for foreign students

When you graduate, will you find work in Mexico or back in the USA? Is international business a good degree to obtain in Mexico?
@sergtana
@sergtana 5 жыл бұрын
I will look for work all over the world! Not just US or Mexico. I think for international business, it makes sense to study abroad since it gives you new perspective. Mexico is specifically good because it's an economic leader of Latin America and many countries do business with it due to it's proximity to the US. There's a lot of foreign businesses in Mexico. I would say studying international business here is good, yes.

Hi! Can u give me an idea of how much it costs overall to study there while also living there ??
@sergtana
@sergtana 4 жыл бұрын
I can really only speak for myself and of course you can spend more or less. I went to a relatively expensive university and lived in an expensive neighborhood. Like I said, this is relative because it is insanely affordable compared to US prices and for the value you get. For expenses, we spent $180 for the both of us. We paid around $350 for rent and utilities (this is for a bedroom with roommates so it would've been more for our own place) And the university is around $7200 a semester. Those $180/week allowed us to get pretty expensive groceries, Uber around town, and go out as we pleased. Obviously we couldn't ball out daily and go on day trips every weekend but we struck the balance that made us comfortable. I hope this helps.

How was it transferring from learning in English all your life and then switching it up to Spanish
@sergtana
@sergtana 5 жыл бұрын
It was so much easier than it seems. Of course there was a learning curve but you have to remember that what I have learned in university I didn't know in English either so at the end of the day it was just learning in a different language. It actually helps me to take notes in English to process the information by translating it. You learn so much in the first few months about being in a new place but after that, it's just university!

@ratgr
@ratgr 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, crim, While I do not know exactly what you'll require to the Anahuac University in Queretaro I can share some experiences transfering in mexico. Most universities here in mexico can "revalidate" (revalidar) classes and mark this as already passed, this can be done 2 ways normally if you have your university's curriculum in enough detail (and certified) and a partial (certified) kardex, you can get those classes, and for the classes that are not curricularly similar enough a simple test can be performed to get the validation if you think you do. The process for you would be very simple, just send an email to the university you are interested and they are going to see what they can do for you, they will even find a scholarship for you (if you can apply to it), I have some friends that did the transfer from american schools and they didn't feel that it was hard to do. NOW the real benefits, I would suggest you look at four universities, but for contrast I will begin with Georgia State's stats: Georgia State: 15,502.10USD per year[1] Global Ranking: 701-750 (Top 3.5%) Tec de Monterrey (private): 13,576.57USD per year Global Ranking: 158 (Top 1%) Pros: almost all classes can be taken in english Cons: expensive, almost half of the students have a scholarship Universidad Anahuac(private): 4,526.95USD per year Global Ranking: 561-570 (Top 2.5%) Pros: good price/ranking Cons: Not fully english? --- public universities -- Universidad Autonoma de Mexico(public): 150 USD per year + 150USD cuota because of the foreign nationality Global Ranking: 103 (Top 0.5%) Pros: Ridiculously cheap Cons: Harder to enter than an Ivy league university, almost no english Universidad de Guadalajara (UdG) (public): 2,000 USD per year (foreign nationality) 80 USD to mexican citizens Global Ranking: 701-750 (Top 3.5%) Pros: Very cheap , easy to get into, same rank zone as your current university Cons: Not very flexible, you need good spanish, -wouldn't call it the best on STEM fields- I stand corrected my brother made me remember me that CUCEI an UDG STEM specialized center exists -- Conclusion -- Private schools are easy to get into, and you get what you pay for, just more than the equivalent in the US. Public schools are OP, very cheap, good, but much less flexible, this schools specialize on a career so even when they are lower on the general list they can be very good at an specific subject. As an example: In medicine UdG is in the top 450 list of universities of the world and paying 80USD a year!! [1]: using the calulator: admissions.gsu.edu/cost-calculator/

Do MX degrees transfer over to the US easily?
@sergtana
@sergtana 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the university and it depends on the degree. The universities where it'd be easiest would be tec de Monterrey and Arkansas state. In terms of the degree, in my case it doesn't really matter since I majored in international business which is more of knowledge adquisition than the degree.

Yes! Gather all of your school transcripts and paperwork you may need. Shipping to Mexico is an ordeal. I would look for expat groups on Facebook to kinda get an idea of the people or the vibe you'll be settling down in. Although it's great to get to know the town through locals, if you'll be there an extended period, expats are the ones who really understand you. They've gone through the same thing you're going through. It'll help to not feel lonely or homesick. Otherwise, anything you tend to buy online, try to get before you go to Mexico. Online shopping is much better in the US. Finally, I would just say to save your money. It'll go much further in Mexico and there will be far more exciting things to spend it on such as Por Siempre tacos:D

Hi Brayan! I didn't answer Santiago on here because we had a private message on Instagram about this already. I have dual citizenship so I didn't have to get anything done in terms of visa but I believe that is quite straightforward as I know many people who have come with student visas. In terms of equivalency, the University was able to accept me just with my paperwork from the US. I didn't have to do anything to validate it through the Mexican education system until I had already started my first semester. The school gives you a specific list of things you have to get validated but I repeat, you can apply and get accepted to a university in Mexico before actually getting this validation process done.

@sergtana
@sergtana 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the employer and the field that she plans on studying in. I felt that having studied in Mexico didn't negatively affect my options at getting a job. I actually felt that it helped set me apart because having international experience gives you a different perspective that no other candidate would have. Honestly though, where you go to university doesn't matter that heavily when it comes to getting a job, it's what you learn and the experiences you have that matter

For architecture she absolutely would have no issues going back to the US for work. If she can go to a top school in Mexico instead of a mediocre school in the US, she'll even have the opportunity of interning at more important firms than she would have in the US. It really depends on the schools she's considering in either country. No worries! I have no problem helping although it may be easier for me through Instagram DMs!

Hi! I’m considering going to a university in Zacatecas, Mexico. I’m a junior in highschool. Do you have to be connected to a university in the U.S to be able to transfer your degree? Did you transfer your degree to validate it in the U.S?
@sergtana
@sergtana 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately there is no defined system in place. Each university in Mexico will have their own credentials when it comes to the US recognizing the degree. In my case, I studied international business and since I never intended on working in US customs for example, I never needed to be sure that my degree validated in the US. Right now I work for a US company with my degree but it's because they only wanted me to have had the college experience and education, they didn't really care much for whether or not it was technically certified in the US. In any case, if your degree being automatically valid in the US is very important to you, it's important that you talk to the university that you're considering directly. I believe the best choices you'll have however are the two I mentioned in the video Tec de Monterrey (any campus) or Arkansas State Querétaro. Hope this helps!

Sure. Private universities can essentially charge what they want. Of course, in theory, the more expensive the private universities, the better it is. This is because it'd be ridiculous to pay more for a worse education.

Hey bro, i know i am late to this video but i am debating weather i should stay in cali for college or move to mexico for it. But can you tell me if it was hard for you like classes since you only took english and then moved to a whole new system if education like how different was it ?
@sergtana
@sergtana 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no worries. Most importantly, everything I learned, I didn't know in English either so learning it in spanish was no different to learning it in english. All that ended up happening is that my business, accounting, marketing, and finance diction is stronger in spanish. Otherwise, it's really no different. The system isn't different either. It's still just a professor teaching and students learning and taking notes. You still write reports and do homework. The only difference is that it's in spanish. I don't want to make it sound like there's no difficulties but I never felt like I was behind because I came from another country. Just think about all of the international students that go to school to other countries, it's just like that.

Hi! I’m also considering studying in México for my career in international business. Could you explain what the enrolling process is like? Did you have to revalidate your high school classes?
@sergtana
@sergtana 2 жыл бұрын
I did! That was a nightmare because I had to go to all of these offices here in Mexico to revalidate all of my prior education. It probably took like 2 weeks of multiple visits and a lot of patience. Just be sure to bring everything possible. Diplomas, transcripts, etc. I wish I had more insight but this was 6 years ago now. I can say it was definitely worth it though. The only other part of enrollment was filling out applications and submitting my SAT scores. That part was very straightforward.

Hi Leslie! I only know Anáhuac is actually a good school for architecture because I went there. However, the top schools usually have the best programs anyway. Public school options would be UNAM or UAM in Mexico City.
