@@dazeltv1351 I believe the ones who goes and lives in the Philippines must have a mindset of "what can I do?" rather than "What can I get?" The Philippines may lack the comforts of Western living, but possess the opportunities to do good things for humanity! Those who seek to be selfish in the Philippines and me, me, me will hate it...

I'm going to bring TWO Phones. 1) My T-Mobile phone, with an International Plan. 2) My Two Year old Unlocked dual-sim Phone for both Globe & Smart sims. The T-Mobile Phone won't get much use except for two-factor authentication & texting family members. Clothing: I'm going to have a Balikbayan box at my Son's place in the US... Once I have an address, I'll have them shipped. Amazon delivers clothing to Philippines, so that is an option.
@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
Great plan on your phones! Balikbayan box is a good way to get items that you really must have here in the Philippines; cost effective. I haven’t tried using Amazon here in the Philippines. Just haven’t had the need for Amazon.

What forms or paper work do you have to fill out if you want to move to the Philippines for more than a year? Are there any, or is it just seen as a long holiday and you dont have to worry about anything?
@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
Most expats come here on a tourist visa. At arrival at Manila International Airport, you get a 29-day tourist visa free. If you want to stay longer, you extend the tourist visa online or at any of the Bureau of Immigration offices in the Philippines. First extension is 30 days. After the first extension, you are allowed to extend several months. The extensions can be up to 3 years; before you have to exit the Philippines. Many go to nearby countries (called a visa run); Taiwan, Thailand, etc. for at least a day. Come back to the Philippines and start the 3-year tourist visa again. Philippines has one of the most relaxed rules when it comes to tourist visas. An incentive for many expats to stay in the Philippines. Be sure to track your tourist visa expiration dates; penalty applies if you overstay and you let your tourist visa expire.

Ginno, I enjoy your videos. You all are such a sweet family. I am a 70 y/o female that hopes to come to the Philippines late this year. I have had my eye on Valencia as I am a country girl at heart. However, I like the idea of being in a walkable small town for convenience. I am considering Dumaguete. I need to be within an hour of a hospital since I have had a previous heart attack. Which small towns would you recommend for someone in my position? Also, I will be on a tight budget, so affordable housing is also important to me as is public transportation. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
Thank you my friend. Valencia and Dumaguete are both a good choice. Dazel and I visited Dumaguete City in November 2022. A lot of expats choose Dumaguete City because of closer to western type housing at a reasonable cost. And plenty of western style food in the area. Public transportation is also abundant in Dumaguete City. Kalibo, Aklan checks off I think what you are looking for. But; we are behind on the western type housing. A lot of expats look for furnished western type apartments; and we just don’t have many yet in Kalibo. But, for cost of living, Kalibo is cheaper. If you are concerned of budget. Dazel and I would be happy to assist you if you decide to give Kalibo a try. I think it makes a huge difference when there are people that will help you move to an area. My recommendation to people is always to visit an area first before deciding on moving there. You never really get a feel for an area until you see it in person. Here’s my email: ginno1966@yahoo.com I would be happy to help you in anyway I can. Take care.

@@dazeltv1351 thank you so very much Ginno. You & your wife are so sweet & kind. I think a simple life would be nice. I agree, ideally, one needs to visit different areas to find the place that feels like home. I am sure I will be in touch.

@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
Yes. Lambingan Beach is in Kalibo. 10-15 minute ride from the Kalibo town proper. They built a pier and esplanade where people go fishing, biking, and jogging. It’s become a popular hangout place at sunset. Food vendors available too.
